yep, from what ive seen on TW over and over is the new guys with welders don't turn the heat up enough, cold weld everywhere

 

well mine.. while it is a cheap one (good 'ol harbor freight ) does have a wire guide with gas option, I don't have gas right now as I don't wanna spend the extra cash immediately and plan on just usin up some of the crappy wire it comes with before wasting gas on that... but after I'm happy with a few beads on this setup I plan on buying better wire and gas both... then it'll be on to building my stuff as well as building/selling anything anyone wants

I walked in the liquor store and walked back out empty handed. Couldn't do it.

 

Painted the center dash/console today. Pretty easy to do, just a little tedious. Getting the stereo apart to get everything possible off the face IS possible, it's just a bunch of clips and small screws. If you're thinking about doing this, I'd suggest it, I really like the outcome, just put aside several hours for dissasemble as well as dry time (I forgot that second part :/ )



Also added a lock to the center console! VERY easy to do and cheap! Cost about $6 for the lock at Home Depot and that's it. Measure and drill a hole in the side of the console 1 1/8" directly below where the clip on the button is, install the lock and you're done!

Obviously this isn't like a true safe but it is another theft deterrent if you want it.

So I've decided to start my mods with more direction: on the list for 2015, MOAB Rock Therapy trip as well as returning from there on the TransAmerican Trail. (if you haven't seen this check it out: http://www.transamtrail.com )

Flowmaster super 40 series with custom pre axle drop
move x-over pipe to allow for flat t-case skid

Safari Snorkel (custom done for the Baja fenders)
CAI? (custom built into the snorkel)

Bed rack:
Custom made for spare tire, high lift, shovel, spare fuel/water, and MAYBE RTT this is getting deleted unless it become necessary for the RTT

RTT??? (anyone got one for sale at a discount??)

Lighting:
LED tail lights/3rd brake
LED Bed lights
LED map/dome lights
LED interior floors
LED center console and glove box
LED rock lights
LED fog lights
MOAR LED's for front and side lighting

"plans" for custom LED headlights are in the works, probably won't happen by MOAB

9-12K lb winch, very wide open still but I know I need one

My list mirrors that for the most part. I have full skids, exhaust reroute, bed rack for RTT possibly, bigger tires, and front/rear lockers on my list of must dos right now

 

I really want the RTT but I know that right now a bed rack doesn't make any sense for me as I'm CONSTANTLY filling the bed with big/dirty stuff and it'd just be in the way. And I thought about lockers but I've watched videos/read up on enough people that have enjoyed MOAB without em that they're gonna have to wait till I have a 100% expendable income and not just a "i really want that" kinda deal

 

Yep, I hear ya, gotta do what you need right now. I was planning on lockers next year along with a rack so imma go ahead with it, and my wife is coming, so that RTT is necessary for decreased bitching purposes

 

that last part I definitely get! haha.. it may become a necessity for me if the whole plan comes together and I do a month long trip back off road.. that doesn't sound like much fun if i gotta set up a tent every night

 

Finally got the fenders painted and the rear bumper done:

I like the fenders, i thought fiberglass would look goofy with smaller tires but its not bad.....

 

Thanks!! And I did too and still wanna run a larger size but only plan to go to a 275/70/17 for now. I think it helps a lot that I'm running the 17" wheel, otherwise they'd be REALLY goofy lookin instead of just a little bit

 

built a DIY bed rail/rack today. so far it only holds my spare and high lift, with space for a shovel when I get one and I plan to add custom boxes in the corners at the cab side



the tire is held up with the stock cable mount:
