now I have a jeep grand cherokee 4.7HO now the fun factor is high the milage is killing me and a pickup would fit my needs better. I am looking at getting a V6 with the 6 speed stick. Now toyotas rating is 18 highway, which is less than what jeep says I would get. I am just wondering what kind of milage you guys are getting with the V6, and how you over all like the truck. And it will be an access cab, with the TRD sport package. thanks

    Welcome to the Site

This is my experience with my last 3 trucks yes I have a problem with not keeping my trucks.

    2005 Taco D-Cab PreRunner 2wd with 5 speed auto and 4.0L V6- I was getting 19-20 mpg combined highway/city

2006 Taco X-Runner 2wd 6 speed manual and also 4.0L v6- I was getting about 15-to16 mpg same driving as above.

Current truck 2008 Taco D-Cab 4x4 5 speed auto and 4.0L V6- I am getting about 17.5 to 18 mpg combined city highway.

    Hope this helps.

    The Auto gets better mileage.

I generally get 20-22mpg in mine.

auto gets better mileage than the 6 speed due to the 6 speeds gearing. i have an auto V6. on my last trip to NC which was 95% highway, i got 21.17 mpg with 32" tires and about 2.5" of lift. if i drive 100% city my mpg is around 16. mixed i get around 18 or 19

It really depends on your speed. If you're going much over 70 mph, your MPG will start to drop quick.

The way the MPG were obtained changed over the past couple years. Those numbers are supposed to be more realistic now. How are you getting your jeep fuel efficiency?

One time, I got up to 15.5 MPG.

In my defense, I drive almost exclusively in the city.

I've gotten 18 on the highway (65-70mph). I average about 15 on my daily routine (1/2 freeway, half city).

I tried modifying my behavior on my daily routine a bit to see how high I could get it by being good. I tried not to romp on it and performed all shifts before 2000 rpm. I was in 6th by 40mph (which is where the manual says you should be). I tried to keep my speed on the freeway portion to less than 70mph. I got 16mpg on that tank.

Not much. Toyota bed mat, Toyota step bars, tinted windows, Toyota seat covers, Toyota all-weather mats, quart of Wild Turkey in the glove box, KelTec PT3AT in the center console, backseat full of old speeding tickets
I consistently get about 18.4 around town and around 21 on the highway depending on speed.

I just filled up and I tried to be good this past tank. I got 15.5 MPG. That's probably about 150 miles of stop and go traffic.

I have consistenty got 19 MPG on my new double cab auto with 3,000 miles on the truck. That is mainly city driving in DFW and I can't wait to see what I get on the highway. That is without any mods and I plan on ordering an AFE Pro Dry Air Filter this week.

Yeah that's true. I used to have a v dub before I got this truck. And it's almost impossible to not drive the piss out of a v dub. I still haven't broken my bad driving habits. Maybe the price of gas will help. Last week I went out to lunch with my boss and he said "Wow, you drive this truck like it's a sports car"

I have 07'/V6/Off Road/4WD/DC & am getting 20.5 to 21 MPG every tank. I drive consertively (65 w/cruise set). I figure what is the rush to get somewhere quick when I enjoy the time I spend in my Tacoma. Life is Good!!!
