I ran 884s, got about 2" lift and didn't need aftermarket UCAs. Alignments were easy and the truck rode great.

I want to put 885s on my dcsb but I don't have the money for aftermarket ucas right now. Will I be ok for a few months with just the stockers? I drive 80% on highways cruisin at 70mph. I'm afraid the steering wheel will be all over the place.

Also I'll be running 265/75r16 at tires since it'll be my dd for now.

Should I get the 884s instead? I just don't want to regret anything down the road of I ever decide to go for a bigger lift and 285s.

I ran stock ucas and 885s for about 7 months before I got my LR. Not optimal, but it can be done.

Why not save for a few more months and do it all at once? Sounds like you are already going down a path you'll regret (getting 884s and then switching to 885s to accommodate bigger tires). If you're even considering getting 285s now I bet at some point you'll end up with them :)

Haha i probably will later down the road when I get a beater as my dd. I'm just wondering if I can get away with 885s on stock ucas now since I have no patience :)

So...887's with a steel bumper. No winch. Good, Bad, or Ugly?

That was quick. I think I knew that but bumper was going to have to come later.
    Too soft of a spring?

I'm so confused about everything...lift, suspension, shocks. All I know is the previous owner had a crappy revtec 3" installed, and it's a rough ride. All these different brands such as ome, icon, king, fox, trd are too much to handle when learning.

    884 , 885 , & 887 are all the same spring rate

Yes. And 883's and 888's, but who wants them. I'm just not sure where the invisible line between the 590 and 660 spring rate lies. Do you think the 590 spring rate would be too soft? I've read over and over on here that if you have skids and a winch or "200 lbs" then it's necessary for the 886's. My question was if placing a 110-120 front bumper(net gain of 90 I suppose, I havn't weighed my stock bumper) warrant the 886. ARB says 110 pounds of additional weight for the 885, so by that reasoning the 887 with the same rate should have a few more pounds of carrying weight while maintaining a reasonable height with that weight? I don't mind a stiff suspension, but I'm not a masochist, and it is a dd.

Depends how much lift you want as well after adding you 120 lbs

Roger that. So 3" minus whatever the bumper brings you down. Sounds like I'd be back in the top plate region.

Installed OME 884 with Bilstein 5100s last night on my '14 DCSB Off Road. Don't have pictures yet because it was dark when we were done last night and it is raining like a mo fo here now.

Just wanted to say install was straight forward and pretty easy (I had them pre assembled from Wheelers).

Lovin the ride so far!! Even though I've only driven it about 20 miles it's improved over factory for sure. I had a 2011 DCSB that I sold to my brother that I had the 5100s in the front at 1.75 but rest was factory and while I was happy with the ride after they were installed I can notice a difference with the 884s, 5100s all the way around and Wheelers 3 leaf AAL. Smooooth and no friggin body roll and dive!! (the 5100s at 1.75 stopped that on my '11 as well). Sucks up the bumps real nice and doesn't feel like you're in a small boat when turning and braking!

I have FJ TT wheels and 265/75/16 BFG ATs to install yet so that will bring a little stiffness to the ride I'm sure but I am sure it will still be great.

I got 2-1/4" with the 884s and 5100s at 0. I'm perfectly level right now. I checked with tape measure to bottom of frame from flat concrete floor and was dead on all for corners. I am at 23" center of hub to fender on all four wheels. I may throw my overload back in the rear leaves but not sure yet. I will let it all settle a little bit and see where I'm at.

Will post pics when I get them on and it stops raining.

You could try the 887's and at worst case add a 1/4" spacer each side later

I think you might be right. The longer studs on the top of the strut is what I was thinking. I'm starting to think that this might work. :burnrubber:
