Like moldy leather man. Excellent smell to go to work with haha, I just like the way my shower looks every time after I finish all these projects haha. Between lift, cvs, rear axle seal and some wiring this month I've had my fair share of grease and oil.

Went to bed at 10pm and when leaving for work this morning noticed that the truck wasn't in front of the house. For a sec there I thought I was dreaming but no dream. They took my shit and didn't hear a thing. No broken windows or anything just a clean parking spot and a big surprise. These guys are good and must have been eye balling me for to be that clean of a job.

yeah that sucks man. tbh, it's probably not that hard to get into the truck, just pop the window, use basic recovery tools to unlock. that's a 2-3 minute procedure.

to get it to start, it's pretty much impossible to get past the transponder security, but if you swap the ecu, 1 minute (it's just one or two connectors) and use a key paired with the new ecu, they could drive off.

^Damn! Always wondered how our trucks can be stolen when our keys are programmed. Damn. At least it weeds out all the dumb thieves

I didnt no it was that easy to just swap the ecu makes me want to secure it to make it take longer to swap.

Damn man, sorry to hear this.

I was thinking about upgrading my alarm the other day. I just have the factory toyota system. Anybody else upgrade? I have a viper on my civic with remote start. Thinking of doing the same for the truck. I never thought that anybody would want to steal a Tacoma :(

I have a Viper. The damn 2-way remote died after 2 years, so now I just have the back up remote. I would replace it, but it's like $70, when the whole alarm system only cost me $100.

But even with an alarm, people can bypass them and still do what they want. If someone is smart enough to change out the ecu and do all that that Stan mentioned, then I'm sure they're smart enough to get past an alarm

Sucks to realize your shit is gone.

Yeah, a simple machined metal plate bolted to where the ECU mounts could do it. The only other solution to steal a truck would be to roll in a wrecker and drag it away in under a minute.
