That area near Olivenhein is SUPER dense with brush and cannot be approached by foot in most places so its a tough one to control, it only has some foot trails and a couple fire breaks that have LOTS of fuel everywhere

It would be dangerous for ground crews as the wind is starting to pick up and has been switching directions so it could back burn endangering the crews.

I was a Volunteer Firefighter at Elfin Forest which covers the harmony Grove area and its pretty rural and lots of dry vegetation, bad place for a fire. When I worked there all I pretty much ever did was medical and MVA/SVA accidents. Lots of retirees that would drink their cocktails and pop some pills then go out and hit stationary objects was the norm.

 

Same here but in Okla with Okla license.

 

Anybody have a set of aftermarket 2nd gen UCA's they wanna get rid of? Checking around for used ones before I go new.

I've just gotta make it there Sunday by 2pm cause my wife's niece and nephew has an award ceremony she wants to be there by. Just going with the happy wife happy life saying lol

 

Wise man.....Keep in mind that the 54 is a two line hiway. If you start running short on time you might consider the interstate to okc then straight up so you can keep the speed up and not have to pass every tom dick and harry.

 

No its really hot. Horrified, feels like Havasu in early summer out there. Yesterday it got to 106 here.

Feels about the same temp today but its still getting warmer, yesterday temps didnt start to drop till about 5:30 which is not normal. But all the fires are creating their own micro-climate., and being centralized here I felt the brunt of it.

 

Yeah, def where your at, its 102 on my porch , checked for Lakeside temp & its 106 now

 

Aaaand there goes my work day.. Hopefully it doesnt burn my job too (work is in the fire path).

Hi guys... I don't know if there is a special thread on the fire storm but here is my 2 cents: Forced evacuation from our San Marcos apartment next to the university about 4:30 yesterday. I got our two cats and not much else. Met my wife at a parking lot a mile south. Twin Oaks Valley rd south closed since then. Motel last night and now we have evacuated south to San Diego family member home. We only have the clothes we put on yesterday, our 2 cats, and our 2 Toyotas!

 

Its cooler in the Dez than here...

 

Please do not hesitate to ask for anything you guys may need from our local community until this pass

 

My work is located off Harmony Grove. It's about a 1/4 mile away from the fire right now.

I am the welder / fab guy doing commercial door stuff.

 

Hell I was going to tell him he probably needs a shower...

That sucks David , major inconvienience for sure but it'll all be alright ...

you're screwed if the winds change up again , 1/4 mile gets covered pretty quickly, but things are improving a little in most area as long as the wind stays down a bit & drops continue
