Agreed. Essentially exposition on my same point.

I gained more and more free reign from my folks during my teens when I started proving that I could have it without doing stupid shit.

No offense, but teen males, as a general rule, are poor decision makers. I can't blame your folks for being a bit cautious.

Ok, so buy it off your folks. I bought my Matrix off my folks for KBB. Then everyone can be happy and respect one another.

Maybe they'll even allow an "interest free" payment plan.

Approach 'em about the idea. At the very least, you may learn some things.

pssh. That's a weak excuse, theres public transportation, friends, family, legs, etc. - plenty of ways to get around. Most places you can probably apply online as well.

honestly if my son didnt have a job he wouldnt be getting a new tacoma to drive, you should be working for your family company, maybe that will help get some browny points with your rents and you will get your truck back sooner, or are you not getting your truck cause your losing your license?

Maybe they took it away because the insurance rates are going up again... doesn't matter who's paying for it. Maybe the company has to cut back on expenses.

Sorry, but if my child had had THREE wrecks in what 1 year or even 2 years, I would take his vehicle away as well. You have shown that you are doing something wrong - following too close, going too fast, not paying attention, something to have had three accidents.

Maybe you need to take a defensive driving class to help you out.

You don't need a car to get a job. You can ride your bike, take public transportation, or walk to work. I did all of the above at one point or another while I was saving up for my first truck or when said truck was in the shop. Find ways to make it happen.

Nobody knew anyone who was well off when they were kids? Not really his fault his family has cash. Should he live like a poor person just to satisfy the jealous people? I say no.

I drove a 1980 puke green dodge diplomat for years. My folks had squat. Am I upset that he was given a brand new taco? no.

I have a 2 year old son that I try to give whatever is within my means. My childhood is done, at least I can enjoy his for a second chance. I see nothing wrong with parents taking care of the children as long as you are teaching them about life as they get older.

What I do see wrong here, is that you do need to pay attention on the road. 2 accidents on wet roads has to tell you to cool it when it is raining. You are young and don't have the experience of say myself who has been driving almost 20 years. You will get there. The most important thing is that you learn from the accident. You got lucky twice whereas you or nobody else was hurt. You will not always be that lucky and chances are you will roll snake-eyes soon or later. If that little girl got hurt, that would be a bad day for everyone. Extra care must be taken. Also, there are lot of people out there who just flat out can't drive. Don't even get my on the old folks. You must learn to be a defensive driver these days. Not a offensive one like years ago.

I agree taking your truck away was not the answer. If it was me, I would be putting some extra work in with you on driving. Especially in poor conditions. That would be the deal. You would have your truck, but you and I would be driving buddies. You may not like the idea, but as a parent my job is protect you and try to eductate you on making good critical choice in life. Taking your truck aways is not going to teach you anything but disgust. I might even enroll you in a driving class. I mean, a accident sucks. But losing you child in one is devestating and a wound that would never heal.

If I were you, I would take your lumps. Show you parents that you can be responsible doing little things. Your 18 now and legally an adult. Show them you can make adult choices and I think your truck might be back before you know it. It sounds like they are just trying to educate you so that you learn a lesson. Play ball and try to learn that lesson. It will greatly help you as your progress in life. One of life's greatest lessons is responsiblity for your actions. Every choice has its outcome, for the good or for the bad. Learning the bad is key to life.

Now that I have gotten off my soapbox, good everyone is ok. Keep ya chin up!
