Being Deployed to BC Fires!

I am being shipped out to BC tomorrow morning to help with their forest fire situation. Pretty pumped about it. Its been a slow fire season here at home so its time to go and see some action. They had 170 fires start in the last 24hrs and over 300 currently buring. This will be the largest ontario deployment to BC EVER! The best part is when I get back I will have gotten in the mail my AFe Pro dry drop-in filter and Sliders. I will also do a Satoshi grille (with the grille I pick up last night) and if the OT is good maybe 3" Lift. It will be like christmas morning.

Well I am back safe and finally on days off. Worked 22 days straight and made some good OT. Time to buy OME 3" lift . The worst part of the trip had to have been getting a Dodge Dakota for our crew truck. What a POS. Getting back into the Tacoma yesterday was like having sex for the first time. Anyway here are a couple of pics, will have some better ones soon.

I heard there were some American crews working. They sent 2 type 1 IMT from Austrailia as well. It was insane when I got there, but with the cooler weather they have been able to catch up with everything.

Thank you for fighting the fires, they should have never gotten so out of control had the gov't done its job properly! May the 2 chopper pilots who have been killed so far rest in peace. My sympathy goes out to their families.

Not enough real mountains? The Rockies aren't real enough for you?? It simply amazes me how many people are so careless with there cigarette butts, and campfires.

 

There was nothing they could do to control the fires. The conditions are extream. Sounds like I could be going back soon.

 

After the 2003 fires the forest service made a number of recommendations to clean up dead wood and fuel on the forest floor in critical areas around towns, our brilliant liberal government decided it was better to spend money on the Olympics instead. These fires maybe could not have been prevented all together, but they certainly should not have gotten so large and out of control. When my dad was in high school the government used to pay high school kids to go out and remove this dead wood and fuel every year. Back when BC had a forest industry of coarse. The Gov't has known about the pine beetle infestation for many years, they knew of all the dead wood that was out there.

 

Yeah but its the public that usually votes no as well cause everyone is scared of fire and dont understand everything. However this year is way different then 2003. This season is WAY worse than 03. Sure the Gov. could have done some stuff, but it is impossible to prevent a disaster like this year.

 

Public votes? on what, our government does what the fuck they want. The most arrogant back stabbing SOB's yet and 4 more years of it! Now there shoving this HST BS down our throats... Anyway rant over, I didn't vote liberal, and I hope we can mount a successful recall campaign.

And on top of that, this is the first year the gov't didn't contract the Martin Mars bombers for use in our woods.
