Is there a product out there that erases slight scratches from washing with the wrong tool? My taco is black, and when the sun hits it, it's obvious, to me. No more typical wash brushes from now on

The Tacoma will need to be polished. Too many choices to list.

Low budget would be to use Meg's Scratch X and be prepared to work your butt off removing the scratches and swirl marks.

Followed up with Mothers 3 step system.
The cost for these products plus some decent towels and a foam applicator or two, actually you will need about 6 applicators is going to be around $90.

The Mothers system served me well for over 10 years until I discovered the Porter Cable Random Orbital Buffer.

If you wanted to take a big step up for close to $225 you can pick up an entry level buffer, either the PC or a Griots, polishing pads, plus some polish, microfiber towels, applicators and a wax.
The best deal would be if a local member has the tools, polishes, wax and would show you how to use them and only charge you wear and tear on the equipment.

This is a very simple overview.

You might want to read this thread. You have to realize these guys use a lot of boutique products so take the negative with a grain of salt.
    http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/tricks-tips-techniques/46390-turtle-wax-ice-liquid-polish.html

On an ABCDE scale the Turtle wax is a grade D product. If this is going on a daily driver you will be lucky to get two weeks protection.

The Mothers products I referenced are a grade C+. As far as I am concerned the Mothers are the best Over the Counter products out there.
Also remember anything you do is better than nothing at all.

Hello all. after much reviewing here and elsewhere, I settled on the Rupes LHR15ES via autogeek. However, perhaps due to being a newb to the serious detailing world, I found it somewhat large and unwieldy, so I just exchanged it for Rupes new Duetto model. Their weight is similar, but the Duetto has a smaller more compact body and thus hoping it will be easier for a beginner as myself. Find myself really enjoying keeping my truck pristine at all times, and being that it's black, it can be challenging. Understand how it can indeed be a relaxing obsession

This is simply washed with Optimums No Rinse, then dried with microfiber towels. Followed with Pinnacles crystal mist detail spray. I've tried a LOT of detail sprays (Meguiars, Optimum, Lucas...), and this is the best I've found. Smells good too, like coconuts:D

Hi, I've read the info here a couple times, still need to buy the proper tools and stuff to take care of my truck, but had a question, the trim around my back window facing bed (one with the slider), has like a mold/fungus build up. Its all dead and dry on the surface, but I want to clean it off and then protect it along with other trim around my windows, what do you think is good?

Edit: previous owner had a back-rack, so I'm guessing that caused moisture to be on the trim

Haha, and all this time, I thought women only cared about smell. I can just picture a hot chick walking by your truck sniffing at it LOL

The better a product smells the more inclined I am to use it. It's not the most important feature but it does make detailing even more enjoyable.

    Nice work John.

I would try 303 Aerospace Protectant first using a foam applicator to apply/work into the rubber and a microfiber towel to buff out.

I did a quick search just using the word mold on Autogeek and came up with this results. I have never used these products.

NEVERMIND!!! It doesn't after carefully reading exclusions
