Damn... that's good to know. I would be pissed if that happened. It'll stain or etch even the stainless models?

Well, thanks for the tip. I'll keep it out of the holster from now on. I just figured it'd keep it from getting dinged up in the safe but I'd rather have a scratch or 2 vs. tanning or etching.

I bought a really cheap nylon holster to use in the safe. I have a couple guns in there and they help keep them from getting dinged up. But yeah, I don't store anything in leather.

Or just use Kydex for the best of both worlds. I have up on leather holsters years ago. They were pretty cool in the 90's though.

For those of you that compete, what is the best way to find a three gun competition (or IDPA or uspsa)?

I've never competed before, but want to give it a run and see how I do

Probably best bet would be to look for a place offering "Fun Shoots" like this place in York, PA. I am going here sometime soon to give it a try. The fun shoots are for all levels and you can practice before trying a real competition.

Not sure where you're from, but I have to believe that most places like this would have fun shoots.

Kettlefoot Rod and Gun Club in Bristol hosts IDPA every fourth Saturday.
IDPA is a ton of fun. Don't try it if you don't want to keep doing it.:D
You don't have to be a sharpshooter to compete. Around here there are lots of first timers every month. If you shoot targets on any type of regular basis, you'll be middle of the pack. Besides it doesn't really have a competition vibe anit's just nice to meet new likeminded people.

Cool, we just let our kettle foot membership go this year, built our own range. The IDPA stuff isn't membership required is it?

Want to get into 3 gun as well to mess with my AR as well

Club membership isn't required to participate in IDPA at the club I shoot at which I later became a member of.
I've never shot three gun because I'm always working the day it falls on every month here. I'm dying to try it though.

A good budget gun (from what i've read) is the stoeger M3000.
My cousin and I each have the M3500 and we really like them. I've only put ~200 rounds through mine (mostly light game loads) and no malfunctions, and my cousin has put 1 seasons worth of duck loads through his gun (~1200 rounds) and a few hundred game loads through his gun without cleaning it and it's had a few malfunctions, but only with 3.5'' loads (fails to eject all the way)

Maybe I should rephrase that, I need to finish the modifications to my home grown riot gun and I will use that. I don't currently have a shotgun I can use for 3 gun but when I get done with my conversion I will

The gun by the way is a badly best up ithaca 37 that I have replace the stocks on. It will then have the barrel cut to 18.25 inches and have a dark parkerizing done. When I get around to it, it will be made into an sbs. It is also a slam fire gun. And before anyone freaks at me butchering an old ithaca, I bought one in bad condition to make a riot gun of sorts.

My other option is a new barrel on a Berretta Urika 20 ga

Then again I could use it as an excuse to get a benelli m4 or a spas 12 lol. (Great excuse right)

On the spas 12 note, I recently got to mess with one at the range a few days ago and other than the weight the gun was really awesome, and actually super smooth when used as a pump gun

About as advanced as you could get without requiring a lathe or mill. Parts kits AKs aren't worth it to me.
