It's a year I like but before I buy one did anyone have the dreaded frame rot issues? I've read about the early 2nd Gen's still having it, like '05, but not as far forward as the '09's.

My frame has a solid amount of surface rust but nothing to be concerned with like some of ones I've seen here. My truck was also Upstate New York before bringing it to the Jersey shore, so it has seen more salt then most

My 10 was very clean, was a NY truck, still is. Ground off some of the surface rust and repainted, looks mint still. Proper maintenance is crucial in the salty states

    Congrats man!!!

I wirebrushed and cleaned the frame on my 05 and put Eastwood chassis paint on it, and, it did have some scale coming off. Linda scary to think of the long term on that.

My 2013, bought new in Feb 2014, is still minty.
I've been wondering if I ought to eastwood treat that as a preventative measure.

I am surprised at the amount of rust under my "09" I am concerned, at only 25k a lot of rust, I am currently in discussion with the dealer but am not looking to get any satisfaction. any suggestions as to what I can do to stop this rusting? any products on the market to stop the rot?
    Thanks

once it starts it's 10x harder to stop. best bet is prevention from the start.

i'm getting ready to use rustoleum brush on rust reformer. we shall see how it works. Ive already sanded and painted 2 times prior but that doesn't last long.

biggest recommendation is to treat the inside of the frame

Thanks, Ya I gotta do something, beautiful truck, very low millage, but I am going to wait & go through the procedure & see if the dealer will cover anything, They are setting up a meet with the factory rep. & I guess after that, litigation, I had hoped when I purchased the "09" Toyota had this problem behind them, I guess not. thanks for the reply

Personally I wouldn't go to all that effort and then use rustoleum
I'd go with por15 or Eastwood
And I wouldn't count on any of that to creep in between frame
    plates
I'd follow up with fluid film annually
