Well I got it done. Still not sure what that spacer/washer was for. A couple concerning things though...

This round spring came off with the old axle. Not sure where it's from

The splines on the hub has grease or oil in them.

All seems to be ok though after my little tesr drive.

Thank you everyone who chimed in!

That's just where I put it. Around the outside of the soft seal where the spring sits hidden behind the rubber.

Good job getting it done OP - this is a great thread.

As to not pounding on the threaded end of something - you can always use the old trick of putting the nut that goes on the threads back on upside down and using a dead blow hammer to pound on it to push out whatever it is you are trying to get at.

That ring looks like the ABS ring delete. My truck uses it as it has no ABS.
Don't really know why it's in a CV kit though...it's a no wear item unless you eat a bearing.

I was wondering what it's purpose is. It pulled off the back of the hub when I separated the hub and old axle.

So you have only rear ABS? I thought 2002 was ABS all around? Come to think of it I think mine has two rings up front...a spacer and ring delete ring..I don't remember really.... ALLDATA has the breakdown.

You know, my ABS light has been in since before the truck was mine. I'm not sure what the part that's needed is but my ABS definitely doesn't work. I'm ok with it.

    :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

NEVER tighten those nuts up with an impact! you can destroy the wheel bearings that way! Use a torque wrench and tighten to 173 lbs-ft.

The nut you guys talking about is the axle nut right? I tightened it to around 150-160 ft pounds as I don't have a torque wrench but weight around 155 (I just ate too) so I stood on the handle of the breaker bar to tighten haha.

The nut I took off when removing the old one was waaaaaay too loose

if the breaker bar is 1 foot long that's 155 ft./lbs.
As long as you don't jump.

I hope it does! I think I fixed my clicking issue. I'm glad it wasn't a wheel bearing!

On that note, if I ever do have to get the front wheel bearing pressed in/out, do I have to take that entire steering knuckle in? The one that's about 20" long that connects to the UCA?
