    Definitely black.

But I'd go semi-gloss instead of flat black. I think the latter looks too dull compared to your black body paint.

For reference, here's semi-gloss in blaring sun

Added Volant CAI: Had to cut the lower radiator hose about 2-3 inches at the engine so it wouldn't rub against the new air box. The kit was missing three flat washers and one quarter-inch bolt. The #40 clamp for the connection at the throttle body was way too short. Had to get another clamp. Overall, though, I really like the performance boost it's given my truck.

I'm not crazy about extra noise the air makes as it rushes through the tube, but I can live with it considering the increased performance. After the installation, the throttle-body spacer now has the infamous whine as the air rushes through it. I'll let gas mileage determine if I leave the spacer in.

    ...too much shit to list.
I know...that's why I said "something like this." The drawing is what I meant, and the second picture was to depict the tube and plate gusset. And I know yours is done like that...I gave you the design. :p

No I think it will be fine. You put some good gussets in there that come back on the top of the frame. It's basically the same as a pontoon cage setup.

And I still have the Wheeler's order coming in with a bunch of bushings, OME AAL, shackles, etc.

I'll be posting a more organized pic later today when I start prep work.

    Have fun!

I hate when I'm in the middle of something and realize I don't have the proper tool. Nothing is more frustrating

I hate that too. It also sucks when you sit down/lay down and you realize oh snap I need this tool also and have to get up and go get that tool. I'd say that happens to me like 10+ times everytime I work on the truck lol.. I need one of those rolling tool box/tray things from harbor freight.

Finally got around to working on the bed rack. Took 3 hours to get it off the truck and one bed rail clean haha

Guess that's what happens when you have a couple buddy's, end up talking the whole time.

Hopefully I'll be able to get everything cleaned up and the whole thing at least primered.

Had an eventful night last night. My truck died while I was going 75 passing a truck on my right with a semi on my ass. He almost rear ended me since I dropped speed so quickly without braking. Pulled over on the shoulder and checked all the obvious things. Pulled the fuel line of the tee going to the 7th injector and cranked the engine. Not a drop of gas. Figured the walbro was toast. Got it trailered to another TW member's house and pulled the tank.

Here's the two odd things I noticed when dropping the tank...
    1. When I undid the fuel line, it made a vacuum sucking noise. It didn't do this when I pulled the lines last time.
    2. Even though the electrical plug on top of the tank was snapped on, when I pulled the plug it had condensation in it.

Anyway, I bench tested the pump and it was good so I put it all back together and the truck started right up and ran fine. Odd. My best guess is a loose connector. Maybe an air bubble since I got gas 25 miles before.

It scared me a little at first. I was like wtf is going on! Thanks though.

Considering this too, but I'm not sure if the conditions were right for it. It was about 60 degrees out and not very humid, and my fuel line wasn't close enough to my header that it would be subject to excessive heat. Engine temps were normal.

Check all your lines vacuum lines.. Check your evap can while you are at it... make sure your tank is breathing.. when was the fuel filter changed last?

Edit.. With that weather you had vapor lock is possible as for heat near the engine. Vapor lock can lock with plus 10 degrees tho your engine needle will not catch it before it happens.

I changed the fuel filter about 500 miles ago and did the walbro pump at the same time. I checked all the vacuum lines first and they are good. I'm not sure how to check the canister. Never really played with one since my old truck didn't have it under the hood.

As far as the tank breathing, that goes back to what struck me as odd when I pulled off the fuel line and it started sucking air into the tank. It seemed like it created a large vacuum in it.

I drove the truck 200+ miles today and all is well. I was halfway into my road trip last night when it happened, so I had to restart that journey today.

Scenekyd just left my house. He drove 3 hours for me to put his OME lift on. Had the usual issues of frozen front eye bolts on the leafs and top nuts on the struts but overall it went pretty well. He's got a great new stance!
