    Hey guys I have a 2010 crew cab long bed TR D 4 x 4
I get about 18.3 MPG between highway in city
I need to get a new set of tires and I'm thinking about getting nito Terra grapplers 265/70/17
    Well these affect my MPG?
And is there any aftermarket parts that can be added onto the truck to help the MPG
I drive about 350 miles a week back-and-forth to work

That tire will be about an 1" bigger, so you will lose a little mpg. If the tread is really aggresive that will affect it also. There isn't really anything you can do to improve mpgs over what you're getting stock.

In my case, the speedo was a bit off (fast) with the stock size (265/65/17) and is now more accurate. So, the mileage was actually wrong with the stock tire. I'm now going roughly 3% farther with the larger tire and no real change in my mileage calculations. The 265/70/17 is the same size used on the 4Runner with the same gearing and they don't rub on the Tacoma, so I don't understand why they weren't stock on the Tacoma. They look like they belong there.

Speedometer and odometer CAN be off by different amounts. When new, speedo was off (read 62 at an actual 60), but odometer was off less than 1%. BOTH will change as tires wear. My OEM tires lost a full inch in diameter by 37,000 miles. All the truck and computer know is how many revolutions the wheels turn, and a worn tire (smaller diameter) goes less distance (a little) than a new tire. New tires, same as OE tire size (P245/75-16) were a little bigger in diameter than the originals. What I do not know is what Toyota and other makes set the computer at - based on brand new tires, half worn tires, or whatever.

I switched to synthetic and stopped accelerating like I was at a dragstrip..I went from about 15.5-16mpg to 18.5mpg. I haven't filled up again, so I don't know what I'm at now. I think the combination of both helped quite a bit

I put 265/75/16 Duratracs on my 2009 Prerunner and saw no or minimal change. I also got to test a set of E rated MTRs for 3 weeks. I thought they would kill the MPGs but I still got 20 - 21 running 70 on hwy

Coast as much as you can...keep it at one speed as much as possible. I get 20+ mpg mixed driving. Stock tires and mobile one synthetic....

You could get long tube headers and O2 sims. That should help a little (correct me if I'm wrong)

I was on fuelly the other day and it had a post about hypermiling. It said something along the lines of "stop stopping at stop signs"

BUT if you really want a drastic change in MPG, mod your truck out and skinny pedal everywhere! 18.3 mpg combined will feel like a blessing (I get 12 city/16 hwy)

I'd never recommend anyone do anything illegal or unsafe. For the most part, to be the most efficient driver possible, you need to have increased awareness and slower speeds. It's easy for people to get stupid ideas in regards to any goal, and "not stopping" would certainly increase economy, but it would be unsafe and illegal and therefore should be avoided.
