bad cruise control?

i'm curious as to if any one else is experiencing some problems with there cruise control. I have the 1999 2.7l 5spd Manual PreRunner. Every time i drive the truck for a long period of time, the cruise control wont activate if i'm doin 65mph unless i pull up on the brake pedal, but if i'm doin 75 - 80mph it activates fine. for me cruise control don't matter because i'd rather control the truck myself. I was just wondering if anyone had the same problems.

Do you mean you *can* set the cruise at around 65 on short trips, but somehow you lose the ability to engage cruise at this speed after you've been driving for a while?

 

you might have a vacuum leak on one of the hoses. check all of them that operate the cruise system.

 

Cruise control is "USLESS" on any manual trans vehical. It's stuck in gear, so it can't down shift to hold speed when it needs to. I've had this problem with 3 other trucks, non Toyota. Trust me, your not missing anything. Even if it worked, it still wouldn't be effective.

 

i use the cruise all the time on my manual... w/e to each their own i guess
anyways, if you have to lift on the brake pedal to make it work, you might have a bad break switch. theres a switch somewhere (don't ask me where lol) that senses when the brake is pressed. turns the brake lights on and also send a signal to the cruise module to kill it.

 

He said unless he pulls up on the brake pedal. I don't know if anyone else is like this but as soon as I lightly tap the brake my CC turns off. Could it be your brake pedal is loose and has some play in it?
