Wow, you can get a LWRC for the same price without all the fancy rail crap, and probably get a barrel that is better than any Ruger has ever produced.

Nutnfancy does an awesome 2 part review of this gun on YouTube. It is an awesome gun, and despite what all the die-hard Colt fans will say, it is close to, if not the best AR available right now. Also, despite the MSRP it can be found for around $1400.

Couldn't agree more with your position on Bill Ruger Sr. but that doesn't change the fact that the SR-556 is a nice, highly capable firearm. All of the Ruger firearms that I own, have always performed well and consistently satisfy my shooting needs. In fact, of all the handguns I own, my Ruger P95-DC is by far and away the most consistent SA handgun I own. That being said, I may have a slight Ruger bias in play here! Great article by the way, covers a lot of angles and provides a ton of good info. Thanks for the post Packer. Check out the tag list at the end of that article........jeeeez!

And even he has admitted that his favorite piston platform is the LWRC.

WOW thread revival... Now that they have been out for a while does anyone have one of these? I was looking at one yesterday and I really liked it, probably going to be my next firearm.

Piston AR’s – Let’s make the platform more complicated, heavier, more expensive, less potential accuracy ---- why???

    That is a solution searching for a problem - plus --- it’s a Ruger --
