The only codes that have come up in the past is when someone has forgotten to reattach something, whether its a hose or electrical plug. No issues with it correctly installed, and I've been running one for 7+ years. Typically this is not an mpg mod. Its a power/torque move and increase. Those who drive lightly/tentatively can see mpg gains, but it is not always typical for each vehicle. I have a lead foot and definitely feel the power, but I don't see an mpg increase because its hard to keep my foot out of the gas, lol. It is really best to reset the ECU when installing, though I know most people don't. This helps for the computer to "learn" the new hardware and adjust air/fuel etc. accordingly. As with most any mod, if you gain in one area, you may lose in another. I added headers on my truck and while I gained nice HP up top 60+mph, I definitely could tell I lost torque down lower.

The plan is to drive and video RPM's and downshifts on a stretch of road and then install tomorrow and reset ecu. Then drive same stretch and pay attention to the same things...

 

I am contemplating one of these for my 2013 dcsb 4x4 auto. I find that it sometimes hunts from 5th locked to 5th unlocked to 4th locked. It seems like this could help a bit no?

 

Yes it definitely can help with that. My buddy had the same thing but with his Xterra. He said prior to the spacer he had to constantly shift down for specific Hills on the highway. Now he said he can leave it in 6th and cruise right over. Certainly can help in a lot of different areas. All happy customers!

 

For the tacoma, I assume the stock upper intake plastic manifold uses a rubber type of reusable gasket. And the gasket you supply with the spacer goes in between the lower manifold and the spacer?

What i mean to ask is, does the spacer + gasket + bolts all that you need to install? (outside of easily modding the lil bracket)

 

Yes. The stock intake has a built in gasket.

What kind of headers? I know long tube header, especially equal length, will give more torque and HP and lower torque peak .

One last thing. The IMS is designed to fit the intake manifold and intake runners/plenum. It is compatible with other performance mods, though fitment with aftermarket CAI is up to the buyer to make work. It was brought to my attention this weekend that when installing an AFE CAI that the intake tube is off slightly when trying to attach it to the air intake butterfly valve connection. This is of course due to the intake plenum etc. raising up the 1/2 inch from the spacer. Basically the whole black plastic thing all the way to the intake butterfly valve. See pic ( I know there's a better name, just couldn't think of it right off the top of my head) Raises up. Not a huge deal, as most of us are used to "modding" things. A longer rubber sleeve from AutoZone or even washers or spacers under the aftermarket airbox can raise things to make them line up again. (*note, in this pic, there is no IMS installed)

Running stock intake here, i have no reason for a CAI... intake temps at cruising speed are about 1-2* above ambient with the stock intake.

 

Throttlebody is the term you are looking for.
