Lol, there you go. Spend $45k on the latest version of the Holden Commodore. The SS is the next Cadillac CTS-V; wait 3 years and you'll be able to buy one for <$20K.

Or a G37S Sedan. You should be able to get a nice '11 or '12 for under 30 easy.

4 seats, same engine, only slightly heavier. I miss my '11 every day...

Jamie if you're going for reliability I'd stay with Toyota, Honda or a Sub. If you look through my pics you'll see what I've got in the barn and one of them is a 3 series BMW. Great driving car but, it's had a few issues (I hardly ever drive it)...and even the small issues cost some cash (most recent was 2 power door lock actuators to the tune of $700). Further, a buddy at work has owned at CLA for about 3 months and loves it but, he's already looking to "upgrade" to the CLA45. That said, lots of my family own MB E and S series. As nice as they are to drive and ride in they are not rides I'd be looking to get just due to reliablity and cost of ownership (maintenence is $$$). Add in resale value and you're looking at some serious differences in overall cost of ownership even though the purchase price may be similar.

For what it's worth, the CLA is a pretty nice option on paper, and it doesn't look terrible. But it's a car designed to get more 30 something's into the brand, and hair dressers. I don't know where I heard this term, but something about entry level premium brand cars screams "Fake Rich" lol. Call me crazy but if I'm spending $35K on an econoboox Benz, I would rather have a loaded Accord with a V6 (probably a lot quicker and more fun to drive) amid being more reliable in the long run, and have better re-sale value.

A client of mine, actually went to test drive one, for a potential purchase for his wife. He drove her 2010 Prius to the dealer and left saying, he actually felt his wifes Prius had more balls. I couldn't imagine how much slower a 4 matic version would be.

Only problem with buying these used is they are almost as much as new ones. From what i have seen

So if they are only about 1-3k difference, i would rather buy new.

I did the sporty car thing for a while with my Mustang. The car was a blast to drive, and with the modern 305hp V6 it got 30-33mpg on the highway while still doing 0-60 in 5 seconds flat. Had plenty of room in the trunk and the back seat wasn't horrible for anyone under 5'8. I loved the car but it wasn't getting us where we wanted to go so it went down the road.

If you have to have a WRX get a 2015. It's a significantly better car than the 2014 and earlier WRX and will hold up better to aggressive driving.

The BRZ is definitely the nicer of the Toyota/Subaru twins. Have you looked at one though? It's not exactly the kind of car I'd own as my "only" car. Not much room, not very comfortable on a trip. Otherwise it's like driving a go cart and a blast.

Once the Tacoma is paid for it will be time to replace the wife's car and we'll probably end up with a Mustang in the 4 cylinder Ecoboost flavor.

I sold a 2007 Outback to get my Tacoma. I bought it new and in 60K miles it went through 3 wheel bearings, the center diff, the front control bushings (btw a really horrible design), and the rear control bushings needed to be replaced. And, now that the "supposedly" fixed engines are getting up in years the head gaskets are starting to blow. Oh, and let's not forget the front end shimmy of the 2010 and 2011 Outbacks and how poorly Subaru handled that problem.

Around here Outbacks have a cult like following, but I was never able to really join the fan club because of the slow drip of problems my car had. Maybe the WRX's are all that, but I wouldn't buy one just because of the experience I had with my Outback.

I just got the 2014 tacoma 2 months ago and it's a really good vehicle as I am sure you already know. I would not consider the brz tho the car is not worth the price, plus the performance is not all that great. The wrx on the other had boast huge performance as well as all wheel drive. Plus I hear that they are making drastic changes for the worst next year on them and this will be the last "good" year for a wrx. Then again that is rumors so far. I have been told a lot that the 4runner is not all that great on gas. So to sum it up

    1. tacoma
    2. Wrx
    3. 4runner
    4. Bmw

Next one might be a Canyon or Colorado if Tacoma's don't have outside temp and homelink when I buy. Tundra if I go full size.

Bmw m235i or the bmw M2 that will be coming out soon. The motors in both of those is so stout it's awesome. To those earlier taking about getting a 3 series for 35k you can but it's not going to be the top dog. I think 328i starts about there. And the diesel models can easily touch 50k with some options. But the new f10 with the twin'd v8 (445hp!) is cool too but the 70k primium isn't so cool.....

Thinking about a 4 door jeep. I loved my 2004 but it became impractical with 2 doors and no room.
