Yea and no matter what you do, a 5 gal Jerry can is gonna hold more and take up less space...and...cost a hell of a lot less. They just aren't that worth it

I'm a can noob too Mike. I'm still torn on metal vs scepter style... metal is probably more durable idk but more clanky. If military switched to plastic style cans must be alright? Not sure what i'm gonna do either. Wont be needing a tank for long stuff any time soon so no bigs.

I have metal Jerries for gas and the plastic NATO cans for water and what not. The plastic ones we used in the Marines are the same ones I bought and there is a reason we use them, they are lighter, and just as durable. We beat the shit of them and they took it.

 

It would be interesting to compare empty weights of metal vs plastic. If its only a pound or two, may not be that important for this application. Not sure really. Marc mentioned the noise/clanking factor too. Though I suppose that may have more to do with how snugly the metal can fits the carrier.

Hey, seeing that 1/2" drive breaker bar laying there reminded me, did you perhaps come across an extra craftsman one laying around the shop. I can't find mine. I thought I may have left it behind and christmas.

Diff is good. Hell the bearings are in damn good shape. Tempting to leave em and wait till I swap the locker in

+1 on the scepter cans. We beat the hell out of those cans. I'll be aquiring some next time I get the chance.

 

I have the NATO cans with one spout. The spout are great because they don't have all of the EPA shit in them. The cans do not clank around in the carriers I have from 4xInnovations. They fit very snug and the strap that folds over is kind of sprung. So when you latch it, it tightens down on the can. I'm thinking of selling one of them and getting a blue one for water. I want to do a little more research on it though to see if the water cans are lined or if they have a food grade plastic one thats the same shape.
