I completely agree. I just wish that people would be better at weapon retention. We had a repo guy in New Mexico that was shot with his own weapon 4 times after it was removed from his dash of his tow truck.

also there is something bad about carrying a knife. A guy who works with my mom got into a fight at Walmart because the guy hit his wife and then punched him. If I remember he was taken to jail b/c he got into a fight even though he had no intention to use it.

No, a gun wouldn't run down the street and shoot people. But angry lunatics would. And it has happened many times. I suppose if everyone had a gun, we could have a third world shoot 'em up down Main Street on a regular basis. Man, wouldn't that be fun?

It is interesting when people cite the 2nd Amendment, they glance over and choose to ignore the precursor of "A well regulated Militia".

I don't believe there is much regulation or need for militia at a Town Hall meetings, do you?

Furthermore, as demonstrated by the lunatic in Pittsburgh (see link:
http://kdka.com/local/officers.shot.Stanton.2.975820.html ), weak minded people are being fed lies from right wing propagandists. Adding guns to these easily brainwashed folks apparently yields dire consequences.

This social observation bears further concern in the Health Care debate. As the propagation of outright lies on the policy of debate are being dissemenated by right wing lunatic punidts and Fox News on such a sensative subject, They are exasperating the fears of people by lying to them about the facts of Health Care overhaul, which as noted, leads to a dangerous situation.

People that have such passionate feelings should seek the truth and read facts. Not believe rumors, or hearsay, and then murder people on falsities.

What part of Massachusetts are you from? ;)

EDIT: Ooops. I just realized that you ARE from MA.... I swear I didn't know it when I wrote this but it explains everything. Yeah, its a good thing they don't have liberal gun laws there. Not your kind of liberal but AZ & TX kind of liberal. Peace. Oh boy... here we go...

Let me go back to sleep until this re-run runs its course...

I'll be honest. Stuff like this concerns me. Yes- its all perfectly legal. But is it neccesary? Its actions like these along with lots of others ( Like the woman basically comparing Obama to Hitler yesterday) and so on. But on top of that, an awful lot of these people were planted. You want to know how? Its because lobbying groups pay millions of dollars to poltical "grass roots" organizations- for both parties- who in turn inject their nonsense at public events, as well as in congress and even at the local government level. Whether you claim you're a Republican or Democrat, it doesn't matter. But the fact that every week leads to acts even more outlandish, backwards, and extreme has me wondering where they hell this is going.

People with lots of money working at huge corporations pay very smart PR firms who know that the typical American is too illiterate and ill-informed to know the difference between a lie and the truth. Health insurance companies are paying hundreds of millions of dollars at this very minute on these PR campaigns. Why do you think that? Is it because they have a legitimate concern about the people they're supposed to be helping not get sick? Of course not. They're out there to make sure their stream of profits grows and grows and that will go away if they have to start paying more to make you well. ( Like they're supposed to be doing in the first place)

So again, when I watch stories like the one from yesterday, its troubling to me that people are so easily misled and so eagerly willing to believe any of the horseshit they're told or whatever outlandish conspiracy theories happen to be propegating on the AM talk shows.

Again- I'm being general about this. It isn't a democrat or conservative thing. Its a general problem with how our political system works and how its too heavily intertwined with business. That's it.

Ok. Here's the bottom line. People on this thread are arguing 2 totally unrelated things: Gun rights and bringing a gun to a social event. I think its a totally legitmate thing to raise eyebrows at the action. If it wasn't a big deal... then we wouldn't be talking about it. That simple. Anyhow, I guess this topic ain't going anywhere and we all aught to go back to our corners and talk about trucks again. That and firecrackers.
