I agree. My X-fer case skid is actually bent and scratched up bad. Well worth the money/weight factor.

 

Thats a good point, lower center of gravity, I hadnt thought about that. My problem with a tcase skid is that I dont want to drill holes into the frame and it seems most require that.

 

Just remember that the housing of the xfer case is a cast part. When you hit it, it can and eventually will crack. It may crack now, it may never fully crack. The problem is these cracks can often not be seen with the naked eye until it is too late, and depending on where you are when this happens, this can be a huge problem. Drill a couple extra holes in an effort to insure you make it home at the end of your journey.

 

I had that shield. And I have also now replaced part of my T case because i hit that shield too hard and sheered off the bolts along with breaking open the T case. Its worth a couple extra holes in the frame and an exhaust relocation to put a solid skid plate under there to protect your T case.

 

All pro's T-case skid doesnt require exhaust reroute. and Im nottalking about that paper mache thing that you guys are looking at either.

 

pelfreybuilt has one that doesnt require a reroute either, though the reroute give you more ground clearance.

 

You dont need ground clearance when you have skids, you just slide over things.

Truth be told, I was better off without skids. Now I'm all like, oh, no worries, I can take that line......no, no its ok, I have skids, I'll be ok. Haha

 

X3. Local had that all pro cover thing and bashed a rock with it. Ended up breaking the case opened. Real skid is definitely worth it.

 

Yup, exactly what happened to the local I mentioned above.

 

Makes sense. You need to transfer the force of impact away from the protected object. That one just transfers the force to another part of it.
