    heres a noob CB question if i plan on running a firestik antenna, with firestik wiring and firestik stud do i need a spring on it? im going to running the BAMF tailgate mount.

    Okay I knew that I just wasn't sure if there was another benefit to it. Appreciate the help. Should have everything done and tuned my citrus. Does anyone have an SWR I can borrow I'll bring the beer if you can help me tune it.

    I have one. Just need to find a good place to tune the antenna. If you know of any open fields with no power lines or trees within a hundred yards or so, that would be ideal. I'm in North Tampa.

    Edit: Beer not necessary. However, I am going to need to change my clutch before the Citrus trip, so if you'd like to attend that party and lend a hand, we'll call it square. :D

    Not when there's a whole group of folk at the party and all that will likely be required is to help me get the transmission back up there, the drive shafts installed, and everything buttoned up. I hope to drop the thing myself and have the new clutch installed by the time I'm ready for help. :cool:

    I imagine that most of what will be going on is a lot of BSing and beer drinking. :D

    Haha, it's cool. Have the knowledge, just need the muscle. There will be at least a couple other TW members there as well.

    Just keep an eye out for a good place to tune the antenna and let me know when you want to do it.

    If you don't see anything promising, I do know of a place around around Thonotosassa. It's not perfect but it'll work. It's on the corner of Harney and Tom Folsom rd. Power lines are kinda close, but I don't know of a better place on that side of town.

    I know, but I have to finish a couple of projects and get the carport cleared off and reconfigured for automotive maintenance. :rolleyes:

    BTW, Adam, I did actually spot what appears to be a perfect place in Google Earth to tune your antenna. It's near the spot I was thinking of. When you're ready to tune it, let me know and we'll try that spot.

    If your asking me then yes I have a spring. I got the medium duty one but whish I got the heavy duty one.
    I bought the firstik firefly, it's lighter than the firstik II & they say you can use a medium spring but that's crap. I think it bends over too easy while driving.
    If it's bent back far enough it will hit the cab but it actually hits the 3rd brake light.
