So exactly who was close? Cause someone said brakes, hooked and blow, and Milton Bradley board games and i said the mail order bride and white gloves..... I don't see anyone close except brakes but you bought a truck and the brakes just happened to be there:confused:

A 3rz swap is very popular in the pickup community. It's for the power and fuel injection. Also gets way better gas mileage. A Tacoma rear axle is wider than mine by 3" so it means a lot more stability and if I'm correct (could be totally wrong) it should accept a Toyota E-locker. Don't know if there's a difference in the 4cyl and V6 axles on Tacomas? Anyone know?

Also it's popular to swap the IFS hubs onto my front axle for 3" added width up front without spacers. Most use Pickup IFS hubs and I'm not sure if the Tacoma hubs are the same. I plan to ask some guys on yotatech.

It was obviously a joke. Lol

Nice find! You'll likely make more than that, just parting out what you don't need.

Yea, Dave needs a cab! Lol. It depends on the size of the diff for the e-locker. You would be better off getting an arb locker instead of worry about all the electronics for the e-locker

I'm about all the way up on the fence about that. I'm about at the point of dragging my truck back up here and pushing it off in the woods. I may, one day, when I get a half way decent first gen, strip this one down and swap the offroad parts over.

I'm just concerned with being wider because these trucks feel so and unstable

Highly doubt I could afford it, or I would.

From all of the video's I've seen of the straight axle toyota pickups, they seem to be very stable. My brother has an 82, and it's pretty sturdy.

It's actually on my moms property at the moment, and has been for a while now. It's current fate is looking like the same fate for my Tacoma.

He leaves today for boot camp, so I'll ask him if he wants to sell it or not before he takes off.

Anything wrong with it other than the shifter? Would I be better off finding a different one?

Any video you've seen of a nodded one has the wider axle or spacers. 33x12.5 and bigger won't fit without em. Maybe it was just the tiny tires I had before that made it feel that way

Shifter is needed. We assume that's the problem with how it shifts, but you never know. It runs, but it's a little sluggish. I drove it about 60 miles back to montevallo when he first got it. Kept trying to stall, but the carburetor is now new, just needs to be hooked up.

The one I've seen a few videos of has factory axles and 33x12.50's. He simply put wheels on with very low backspacing to bring the tires out far enough.

Is there a joke here I'm missing, or is there a reason nobody's said "bleed them" yet? I've been out of the loop, clearly. :(
