    Sorry to bring up an old thread but does the size of the axle nut vary depending on brand of axle? The reason I ask is the 36mm socket seemed a bit sloppy when I tried to tighten. Is it supposed to be a 34mm socket? Thanks.

    Should be either a 35 or 36mm.

    Whatever socket you may need, make sure it is a good tight fit due to the extreme pressure you put on those nuts. With the wrong size, you'll get about 1/2 way or a bit more to your torque value,,and the corners of the nut will round off,,then your dragging out the hammer and chisel to (hopefully) get it back off again.

    Back to town, buy another nut,,buy the right socket,, repeat process.
