What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Still have the starter, exhaust, propellors and fluid fill but the transmission is back in place.

 

Gonna have to put off mods for a few months

 

New flywheel installed and transmission up and in:

The better part of a day working alone. Maybe 6 hours actual labor time. I work slowly, a pro mechanic could probably do it in 2. An impact wrench was a huge time saver getting the U-bolts, leaf spring nuts, and driveshaft/pinion flange bolts loose. I haven't bled the brakes yet, but that's a 15 minute job once I can snag some help or a "one man bleeder" kit.

When I bought the new diff it came complete with all the lines and wires still on it, though I had to swap the parking brake cables over because it came from an xtracab and they were 18" too long. That took an hour or so by itself because it meant taking the drums apart.

 

Finally got the bed rack painted and mounted back on the truck.

 

I thought he had broken his finger. Took me a bit to realize...

You and me both haha. Although less for me right now because it was supposed to come with dually D2 cutouts but it has no cutouts at all...not sure there's much I can do at this point.

 

have them pay to have someone local cut out and weld in d2 cutouts

only thing i dont like is there is no support for the wings. granted my relentless bumper only has a bolted on support, but its something.

 

I was looking at it with another tw member and we both agree we don't see how it's even possible with how much space there is. The front plate looks too short to fit a D2. We'll see what I hear from Billy. It's not a HUGE deal as there are other was to accomplish mounting them. I just wanna know why it wasn't done...

 

especially if you paid extra to have it done like most other fab shops charge...

Yeah I don't know if I'm too worried about that. Looks pretty strong to me. Strong enough for any off-roading I do. I don't know about getting run into from the side, but I know it's stronger than stock haha.

Didn't pay extra. The light hoops and all winch/light cutouts were included in the base price. Partly why I'm not too upset I didn't get something I paid extra for.

 

Truck threw a P0125 code and I looked under my truck to find this:



Put the sensor back in with some new nuts, cleared the code and its as good as new.
