Because it seems like 95% of the people running the service dept dont know what the hell they are doing.

Are you getting the 4 leaf pack with the 2 deg wedge?

    Yep

The tech walked me back to his personal truck which I can't even believe he drives on the road. It's an 88 Toyota p/u, SAS up front, Currie axles (high clearance D60's front and rear), custom flat bed, 40's, and a FI 4.8L Chevy V8. And he uses it. The body is beat to $hit but so bad ass.

No doubt! The best part about it is that they are the closest dealer to me. It's only been open for 2 weeks and I didn't know it existed. It's in a new part of town opposite the direction I go, so I never knew they were building it.

Well they have had mine for another week now. Tranny mount the first week. The tech I talked to the beginning of the week didn't know if they even had the tool to do the measuring. Glad I have plenty of vehicles to drive.

Why are they holding onto your truck? After confirming you had the vibration, there was no real need in doing anything to your truck. They should have just sent you home while they order the steering wheel damper and mount and wait for them to show up. Then you could've come back and had them installed and then measure for the springs.

Maybe they are just playing some sort of game. Miss having my truck for some jobs around the house, but I have plenty of vehicles to drive. Maybe I'll have it back next week.

Got the truck back today with the new springs installed. Much better but if I hammer the throttle really hard from a stop, there's a very faint vibration still. It's small enough that unless you were trying to notice the vibration you wouldn't ever realize it was there. I'm happy with it.

Was kinda pissed when I left the dealer though. I pulled out of service and immediately hit a speed bump in the parking lot and heard a loud clunk which sounded like something loose, so I turned around. Both lower shock bolts were finger tight. Typical!

Before: measured 16 3/8" to bottom of receiver with an almost empty fuel tank

After: measured 17 1/4" with a full tank

Yeah i got about an inch of lift from my original 2+1 pack to the new 3+1 pack. Like stated under normal driving there are no vibes on accel, and very very faint under decel in the 25-15mph range. Under WOT from a stop yes there are some accel vibes but so small i can live with it.... it was just the normal driving accel vibes that were horrible.

Also another -1 for dealers.... theres a reason i brought my torque wrench to the dealer and before i drove it off the lot checked the torque of every bolt they could possibly touch. Service techs looked at me in disgust as if they didnt do their job right... till i found the same thing on one of the nuts, it being finger tight.

Was kind of pissed today - no call from them so I called, got reps machine, left msg, no return call. Called again an hour before closing and they couldn't find my rep. Will try again in the morning

I got the torque wrench out when I got home to go over everything as well. Thankfully, everything was torqued correctly the second time. I dropped it off this morning with about an 1/8 tank of gas and when I took it back to have them fix the loose bolt issue, the service manager took my truck to the back and filled the tank without asking me, so kudos to him for that. He also gave me $50 credit for parts.

It's kinda hard to explain the ride. It almost feels smoother on the road but is much stiffer when bouncing on the bumper. Overall, it feels much better.

+1 to the ride being much improved its a much more welcome firmness

Also +1 for the dealer making it right... Something that Ventura Toyota needs to learn!

^yeah even though the tsb provides like-for-like spring swap (only a shim is added) I got the firm ride swap instead of soft ride. I'll take it. less sag in future

technically according to the TSB if you have a TRD off road (which always came with the 2 +1 leaf pack) you are supposed to get the 3+1 leaf pack.

Honestly dont know why they are even dealing with the 2+1 leaf packs any more.... as of october/november 2013 all 6lug taco's produced have the 3+1 pack.... all the way from the lil reg cab 4 cyl pre 2wd prerunner, to the DCLB 4x4 sport.

    ^ah ha

    a) that must be the reason for the new ubolts and nuts if production was prior

    gotcha

    b) and didn't know they finally dropped all use of the 2+1 flimsy pack

Well they've had my truck for over three weeks now. Last week they said they had receive the ok to order all the additional parts and would have it back to me shortly after getting the parts. Will be pissed if the problem is not fix... or worse yet, shake worse. Oh well.
