So at work earlier today I was reviewing invoices and I've personally invoiced ~$400k in work that I've quoted and secured. Not too bad for 5 months into the year. Getting $250k jobs really helps haha

yeah that's true And I would lecture on the harder material but I would structure class and my tests so that you have to read in order to understand lecture and you also have to read to pass the tests w/ a c.

What kinda classes we talking here? I could see it working in like humanities classes, but have you ever tried just reading something like a calculus book? There's no way you could teach that without working some problems with the students

Like I said, derivatives are easy. I've thought myself most things through the book in school. A lot easier than listening to some teachers babble

I've been forced into it before as well, but I don't think it should be a goal of teachers to do that. I personally like the classes where I can do all my homework/ study for tests from in class notes... "have everything handed to me" if you will :D

As I said before, it would be used in higher ed classes...where people would have a general understanding of everything.

But how is it unfair if the students ask questions things in the reading they don't under stand? It's not like I would say "I am not going over that question".

I suggest you tutor someone who doesn't put in the time and effort to help them selves.

I am a huge fan of the biology/physiology/etc side of things and would be along those lines.
But my gf is in a physics class that works like this and she has an A. I took Organic and bio chem classes that worked like this and had super A's (100%+ club :D).

How many times have you guys bought a book and never touched it because the instructor gave you everything you needed and then got miffed that you wasted money?

I have taken 1000's of pages of notes over the past 5 years and seems like the classes that had minimal instructor involvement and more student involvement with regard to gathering information are the ones that you actually learn as opposed to picking up a few tid bits of information here and there that happen to stick in your brain after the class is finished for some reason. And don't lie, we have all had classes like this :D.
