I know, this should be posted in the "What I don't like about my Tacoma" thread...but this is easier...

Why does the driver side automatic window go all the way down with just one touch but not all the way up?

Who would think you'd WANT the window to go all the way down with a touch and NOT WANT the window to go up with just a touch?

    Waiting for any reasonable answer...

Most cars besides luxuary cars the auto window is only on the drivers side and only goes down

There is not a car made with auto up windows.
The Safety Police do not want any ones arm getting trapped in the window and sueing the Company into the next Millinium.

Much to the chagrin of the Legal Industry.

Just be glad your window works, my passenger side window went out one month after the warranty expired. :(

The safety feature for "little ones" prevents ANY power window from closing if it senses an object (neck?) in the way.

But anyway, that's really the only thing I don't like about my Tacoma...and the F*cking wonky radios they put in the '09s that do whatever the hell they want, when they want.

I think you being a bit funny...but I'd check the facts at the heart of your statement: IE-My Scion (a toyota product) does auto up and down drivers and passengers side stock.

Can't tell you why the Tao only gets the auto down drivers side tho...::shrug::

I HATE THE AUTO UP IN MY WIFE'S JEEP. It drives me nuts because it's too sensitive. I would disconnect it if I could.

I'll press down and it will start to go the whole way down. I stop it by pressing up and it begins to go all the way up. Then down...then up...then down...

Ok, so I may be exaggerating this a bit but it does frequently engage in auto up or down when I am just trying to adjust it. But I do HATE the feature.

Personally, I think its great that the Tacoma does not have auto up window controls. This is just my preference, but I know there is a LOT of people that fell the same way.

And BTW, all of the vehicles that I have owned with auto up/down windows have had safety features that prevent the window from closing on a hand, neck, etc.

I've heard the same...but never tested it...

cause I've also heard of folks de-railing the window and having it smash inside the door....a better alternative to getting choked out by a window...but not worth testing.

Yep, a broken window inside of the door is no fun to clean out, or pay for.

Next time you're inside of a newer Audi or VW, stick your hand in the window as it is rolling up. It will bounce right off your hand with very little pressure. There is many other manufactures with similar, or identical features.

Technology trickles down, not up. It takes time for newer tech to end up in "lesser" vehicles.

Imagine that we live in a country where people complain about holding down a button for 4 seconds.

Even though it has already been responded to I will chime in. My '08 Accord had both auto up and down driver's and passenger's switches on the driver's door. I loved the feature.

The switch in the Tacoma I think is too sensitive. In my Honda it was almost a three position switch with a noticable extra click for the switch to activate the auto up or down.
