Does anyone know if etune can read your txts for you?

 

My 2014 offroad sport will read my texts aloud to me. Also I don't have navi built in.

 

How do you get it to do that?

 

When a text comes to your phone when it is connect via bluetooth a screen pops up on the deck and says something about reading your txt to you since the car is in motion. I use it a bunch. You can also tell entune to send a response back but they are specific responses that entune has built in. You cannot send a custom txt.

I have a 2014 TRD OffRoad Access Cab V6 4x4 with Entune Plus (no nav).

 

I also had to turn on an option to send notifications in the setting under the Bluetooth pairing.

 

Yea...nothing comes up when I get a text. I'll go check out the settings. Thanks!

 

what kind of phone are you using?

Also it wont auto read, I have to go to the messages option and it will read it if im in motion. It will however display on the screen that I have a new message.

 

I'll have to check mine, but I'm pretty sure I can send a custom response. Mine is a 2012 JBL w/Nav...

 

Mine notifies me that a text is available, then says 'Would you like me to read it or ignore?' Then, I say 'Read it' and it reads the text. Then it asks me if I want to 'Reply' or 'Cancel'. If I say 'Reply', I can say whatever I want. It then asks me if I want to 'Add more', 'Send it' or 'Cancel'. If I say 'Send it' it is sent!.... Mine is a 2012 JBL w/Nav...

 

I have a droid razor maxx phone and the deck does have the nav ( if that matters )

 

My 2014 Entune plus will, and with a sexy voice.

 

Just noticed I called it "etune" ha! stupid....anyway, pretty sure my is the premium so I know it must have this function. It is 2014. I went through all the settings. I thought I had it figured out. Will someone break it down for me please??

 

Be careful with that txt option. It can be quite tricky when you have FWB girl #2 in that truck, and get a text from FWB girl #1. Always make sure one FWB is pretty dumb, it makes life so much easier.

 

Has anyone screen/system crapped out on them? Mine got to a point where all I could do is control the volume. Went for a service today and they are going to replace the system, but I am not so sure that I am a fan of it. The navigation was terrible, compared to my Garmin. Took a trip and it was at odds with the Garmin every time we hit any city with more than a few options. Garmin wanted to route me around DFW, but I followed the nav and that was a bad option. Probably added at least an hour+ to the trip with traffic in downtown DFW.

 

Mine worked and then stopped. I deleted all the texts off of my phone and it started working again. If you have a lot of old texts on your phone you might want to delete them and see if entune starts working properly with it.

 

I killed the text option after the few weeks of owning the truck. It was a distraction to me, and if its important enough is should warrant a phone call.
The dealer looked at it, and ordered a replacement. From the beginning it wasnt working right. No doubt some software and now hardware issues.

 

Can someone tell me how to set up text messages. I have a 2014 Tacoma with entune plus but text doesn't work.

 

You will have to use the menu's and look for the text options. I could never figure it out completely, and when I received a text I felt like I was fumbling for the info. IMHO a bit unsafe messing with the text option. You receive a call, and you press a button and start talking.

 

No button here. It's all hands free...

 

Mine is like this ^^^ with the lowest line Entune in my 2013, but it is based on your phone too. My 2006 Camry now does that same thing now that I got rid of my Iphone and got a Windows phone.
