    Good to hear.

Yes they can wreck stuff (family's, bodies, ECT...) but that's up to the person who consumes the stuff.

Pfft. Meanwhile PA has some of the highest priced gas in the U.S. #10 on the top ten in March. Taxed out the ass.

No one can tell me that shooting chemicals into the ground is a good thing. Plus no matter what they say, it doesn't ALL come back out.

I know we need it, and there sometimes has to be a give and take. I just wish there was a better way. Who knows, there may be. But if there is? My guess is it would cost more, and companies wouldn't want to use it. It would take money out if their pockets.

Fracking didn't become popular as a means of extracting oil and natural gas until the price of oil would justify it. Other means may be available but until the price justifies the cost, no one will do it. No one is in business to lose money.

As much money that they are raking in now, I'm sure its affordable. But if they can get away with the cheaper way, then F it, right?

If everyone said no to fracking, then I'm sure they'd be switching tactics real quick like.

:notsure: I don't know what technologies that are out there to do it. I don't even know if there are other ways.

I'm just throwing my opinion out there. Like I said, I know we need it. Just wish there was a better and more importantly a cleaner way to do it.

Well, you said "if you can get away with cheaper than F'it right?". So I was wondering, cheaper than what? Drilling is cheaper than fracking but it's becoming more and more restricted (there's a ton of it in Alaska but we don't want to damage the permafrost).

No, I was just making the point that if Fracking is allowed and they can do it, and its cheaper. Then they won't do, or search for an alternative.

From what I gather drilling wouldn't work in a situation where fracking is being used.

Actually, I am in the business of water and how to use less to do more (if anyone is interested to get back on topic)...

For the past 34 years I have been installing, repairing, selling, and designing irrigation systems for landscape and some agriculture (groves)... but primarily residential sprinkler and drip irrigation systems.

I just found this thread, and perhaps it is a joke with much talk of toilet flushing, but just in case anyone else out there is seriously interested in the latest methods to apply water to plants efficiently, I can help!

    1) Use drip irrigation on shrubs, trees, planters and any area where sprinklers apply water too fast or too large. Watering the sidewalk and side of your home doesn't make sense. The most common system of drip I use is dripperline (emitterline) which is a tube (hose) with drip emitters already installed inside at 12" spacings, made by Netafim in Fresno, CA. Water the root zone only and nothing is wasted to wind, walls, concrete. Save 50%-80%.

    2) Use low flow rotating sprinklers instead of high flow sprays for lawns, slopes or areas not easily watered with dripperlines. I use the MP Rotator, now made by Hunter in San Marcos, CA but invented in Walla Walla, WA many years ago. By applying water at a slower rate, the soil can better absorb it and runoff and waste is reduced greatly. Wind has a much less affect on the coverage as well with the multi-stream rotators (but always water when there is no wind). There are MP Rotators now that water from 6 feet to 35 feet each in all sorts of patterns, and most are adjustable. Also for 5 ft. wide by 15-30 ft. strips. MP Rotators can reduce water consumption by 30% or more over conventional sprinklers.

    3) Install a weather based 'Smart' controller. Automatically adjusts irrigation runs times based on the weather at your property as well as other data you input (sprinkler type, soil type, plant type, global location). I use the Smartline controller with weather monitor by Weathermatic of Texas.
