I did some measurements yesterday. With the cap and maybe 150 pounds of random junk in the bed I'm riding at 23" in the front and 22.5 in the rear. Im trying to clean out the bed to get a better measurement with just the cap.

I have two sets of factory springs for my truck, one set is beat pretty bad, the others are near new. I'm thinking about doing this mod with the two sets. Basically I want 1.5-2" of lift but I want stiffer springs for more hauling capacity.

If it were me I wouldn't use the toyota springs, over time (probably 3-4 years) they will sag and start to go flat, eventually losing all spring tension.
In short, not as good as chevy/ford/dodge springs (or single spring).

Spoken like one who knows.... As Jake said , its more or less like slapping 1 POS spring on top of another..

1.5"-2" lift is easy, 2 mildly ARC'd leafs will put you right where you want to be

I'm i. Kinda of a pickle now. I took everything out if the back of the truck. The driver side rear sits an inch lower than the passenger rear. 23 inches rear driver and 24 inches rear passenger

Not a pickle Tyler, quite typical with tacoma springs, all the weight is on dr. side i.e; gas tank/battery/you.... & because they're soft & weak this is the typical side effect but very fixable

So best bet would be to replace one toyota leaf with a Chevy and leave the AAL? Or scrap the Aal and one of the toyota leafs and replace with two Chevy leafs?

Damn I wish they still had speedway blue, love it.... Ok, your AAL has got to go , too much ARC leaving some gaps between leafs & as mentioned its doing all the work... So adding a couple nice ,evenly ARC'd donors will be a much needed upgrade bring your springs back to life, give you some lift, add load capacity, bring your ass end to a level measurement, no taco lean, no more axle wrap, & an on/offroad ride that you didn't think was possible, I'm serious , in the last 3 or so years I've been doing this between the trucks I've done personally here locally & members that have done this MOD numbers around 150-175 trucks & thats just on this site, this MOD works & it holds up, the lift & results you get will still be there a couple years from now....

So the sales pitch is over, I DO build springs for those who neither want to do it but want it done, or don't have the resources/time to do it themselves, however you go about it , its a win/win situation....;)

Man I appreciate it. In the next few weeks (all depending on if I can get some steady work) I will tackle this. It's killing me how her ass looks. Needs to be little it ass high.

I'm a DIY type of person so just out if curiosity how much do you charge to build a leaf pack? And what is the average price folks pay for a set of springs?

Forgive me if this has already been covered but I couldn't find it in the "Search this thread" tool.

What are the facts about painting leaf springs? I have heard it is necessary to prevent rust buildup, but on the other hand I have heard that painting them leaves space between each leaf (If its an even coat I don't understand, but okay) causing them to crack.

    Thanks, Devin
