    fully armored, 4.88, 33 skinnies, tundra brakes, a REAL cold air intake.
    I only have 265/75s now and they rub the frame on stock steels which i assume are the same BS as the aluminum. i feel like i have huge weights instead of wheels

    Frame rub will probably be an issue with the 255/85R16 on a first gen with factory 16x7 alloy wheels (4.5" backspacing). I had light frame rub at full lock with fresh 265/75R16 Cooper STT's on the stock alloys. My wheels with the 255/85R16 KM2s are 16x8 with 4" backspacing and I rub the frame a hair at full lock.

    I don't run this specific size but I run a pizza-cutter style Interco Bogger on my trail buggy. They're 38.5 x 11 and I absolutely love the tall and "skinny" look. 11" isn't exactly skinny but for that height it definitely is. I've never had a tire perform as well for me and definitely would keep running that type of a setup for off-road use. Somewhere between 5 - 8 psi and beadlocks and it's unstoppable

    You're going to need to do some serious trimming based on those pics. or limit up travel thus defeating the purpose of running this tire size.

    My tires go WAY up past my flares at full compression.

    Shoot now I'm nervous I wanna run the coopers at 255/80/17 on pro comp 7089s i don't know what to do now I want that size so bad but don't wanna rub on my cab or fenders I've already trimmed for 285s

    As long as you are running stock rims and upper control arms you won't have any rubbing.

    That doesn't make any sense everyone else is running after market wheels and lift and are fine.

    3" lift EIBACH coils w/ 5100's front, OME/ Dakar leaf springs w/ toytec adjustable shackles at 1.5" and 5125's out back. 33x10.5x15 KM2's Relentless DIY steel bumper.
    Stock wheels have been shown to be a safe choice when going with this tire choice. There are plenty of aftermarket options that will work with this tire size depending on wheel specs. But most of those aftermarket options will probably require some type of trimming, which is what most have to do. If it's just a daily driver then the pinch weld mod might be enough trimming. If you off road then a big hammer to help trim is probably needed or a CMC. Wheel specs have a lot to do with it.

    Which leads me to believe that this will work seeing how my wheel specs are the same as CHUX he and are 17x8 with 4.5 backspacing . I'm just trying to determine how much trimming will be necessary

    I have mine on 16x8 procomps with 4.5" backspace.

    Had to trim a shitload. Now the only rubbing is on the frame

    I see that you have a 2 1/2 inches of lift in the front I had rubbing on my cab mount in the past as well I fixed that by adding 1/4 spacers to both sides and that fixed it

    Hey I apologize if this has been asked but how do 255s affect MPGs? I currently have 265/50R20 (previous owners idea) and am about to lift 2-3 inches and get taller tires. I would LIKE skinnier ones to offset the MPG drain of taller tires. Is that solid logic?

    I mainly want to have an aggressive look without MPG loss. I don't drive offroad or in snow, just daily driving

    I went from 265/75 16 to 255/85 16. Went up by 2mpg and gaind some of my pep back. I think it has to do with he skinnyi tire and less rubber on the road.

    Oh really? You went from 32" to 33", and gained MPG? That is nice, did that require any trimming or anything? And wouldn't a larger diameter tire hurt acceleration?

    So 255 is a slimmer tire that offers a different look, has anyone ever tried 245/85/16? Or any other height, the reason I ask is that 255 is just a half inch narrower than 265. Wouldn't 245 be an actual visually narrower tire?
