Please don't take this the wrong way & maybe I'm way off base...but here is my .02 for what it's worth.

I owned a house prior to getting married. But I got married about the same time I bought my 2nd house. Why not cut back on the wedding and put it toward a house.

I'm sure it's prob too late, but I can speak for my wife on this, we are so glad we didn't spend what we wanted to spend on our wedding. Instead, we put extra money into house #2.
Years later....I'm happy my mortgage payment/total debt is where it's at. I barely remember my wedding but I know exactly what I've put into my house.

House fund is a better investment than wedding.

Low monthly nut is where it's at.

 

Lol weddings are a horrid investment and that's not factoring in the 50% divorce rate. Most fun and memorable time I've had out of the 12 weddings I was in cost the bride and groom nothing. They got a free suite in Jamaica because 70 of us went and booked rooms at sandals. I took the video, and pics were taken by my buddy who is a pro. Think they spent a grand at most on renting some chairs on the beach.

Woody, I think all of us on this board would agree with you. However, try explaining that to our girlfriends/fiancées/wives...

 

Your right. Trick is to explain it in the way that they believe it's their idea. Lol

But at the time, my wife used to agree with me a lot more.

 

Don't have to explain it to my woman. She'd rather go to the JP and have a 2500sf home, than an expensive wedding. She also has a love hate relationship with my truck as well, but that's a different story.

While I whole heatedly agree, I am okay with how much we spent/are spending. It's a lot, don't get me wrong, but I have kept us pretty damn close on budget ($20k) and for a 150 person wedding, we are doing very well. It will be an incredible wedding and an incredible party and I know it's going to be a ton of fun. By this time next year we will have had both the wedding and the house and things will be all good, I was just really tempted top jump the gun on the house. Also it's wayyy too late to try to save now, only two months away.

Ain't that the truth. She hates how much we are spending too, but we both are happy to have cut costs/gotten deals where we did.

 

So who else is in for a pine run this weekend? Or do I need to start sending some texts?

 

I MIGHT be in now... Had to dish out a little extra money than I would have liked in the past 2 days for my quad doubt Ill be able to go depending on my paycheck friday

Well you called it a flip and generally a flip is where you buy it, do some work to increase value, then sell for a profit.
