just got my truck broken into last nite....
this has never happened to me before so i dont know what to do, if theres anything i should do leave a comment...
yes my car was parked inside my gated garage in my building with cameras.
my car is salvaged title so i dont have full coverage insurance on it. anyways the only noticeable things they took was:
    -double din stereo
    -rayban glasses
-tool bag with tools (i had just spend $100 or so on some new tools this weekened)
-all my car paperwork (insurance, registration, some car repair receipts)

i guess i could look on the brighside at least they left my Ultragage which i just bought in a group buy
and my subwoofer with sub box which i bought from a member on here

since it looks like they cut the wiring to my stereo is it still possible to install my original HU?

Damn sorry to hear about that, I would invest in an alarm system next and then buy a new stereo

It's hard to tell but it looks like they cut the factory harness, which means you are going to have to do some major work to get back working...but it can be done.

Hard to tell from the pics though.

yes im pretty sure it was the factory wiring. as the thieves once realized this they disconnected the already cut wiring and left the cut piece of factory wiring inside the truck

Sux! Sad but the reason I don't leave anything of value in my truck. File a police report and see if you can recoup some of it thru insurance (can't think of a reason a salvage title would affect a claim based on theft).

It actually was a JL sub. 12w3 to be exact. I guess they didn't take it because it was too big and heavy idk and it really is strange that they took all my paperwork I have no idea why they would do that. Is there anything they could do with it?

Dude that sucks. I'd get it back in shape, then unload it ASAP.

The feeling of being violated would make me not want it anymore.

I have a strong feeling it was somebody from my building or somebody that knows somebody in the building because both gates to get in are always locked and my manager is very thorough on making sure they stay that way. Also it was specifically my truck singled out of about 30-40 cars and they knew exactly what they were going after which makes me think the thief had previously had checked out my car and had seen what I had of value.

Do a police report and find out who controls those cameras in your bulding , hopefully they are recording. what a bummer.

I just spoke to my manager and apparently the cameras are just dummy cameras and aren't recording anything. That sucks Idk why anybody would install dummy cameras that's the stupidest shit I heard

It's used as a theft deterrent. If someone sees a camera eyeballing them, they're less likely to rob you (didn't work in this case though).

Really? I have never heard of that. I would guess if someone had already planned to steal something they wouldn't care about a camera being there at all. All those cameras are doing are giving people a false sense of security. Stupid idea to me but I guess to each his own

There's info they can use on all that. The easiest would be seeing where exactly you live (room number). If you are the only one listed on everything then they can look and if the truck is gone...so are you. Empty house/apartment/ect. They could also use the info to get credit cards in your name and probably some other stuff of they were any good. But seeing as they stole a factory headunit but left the sub (amp too?) I'm betting they just grabbed everuthing hoping for a quick score and tossed most of it.

Still keep an eye on your credit info for awhile. Let your bank know and they should track it for free for you

Just a recommendation but I would probably remove the sub out of the truck until you get a alarm installed. Now that the thieves know what you have, they might come back.
