I vote new Ram 1500 with the diesel. Bigger, nicer, better mileage. Basically a win/win/win unless "too big" is an issue.

I love my Tacoma. Its paid for and that is why Im modding it. I am really curious about the colorado. It looks good but that does not mean it is going to be good. I would give that one a few years to see how the reliablity works out.

If I were you I would just walk until a new Tacoma is released. Just like you if I was in the market for one I would not buy the current one. I love my 08 and there is no way I would consider trading it in unless toyota acutally releases a new Tacoma. Until then I will drive er til she's dead.

We put almost 90K on a 2002 Ram with a 4.7 V8 (Hemi came out on 03) and have 60K on our 2009 Ram Hemi. Neither of them has ever had anything wrong with the transmission. Our 09 is especially butter smooth. I just wish it had more gears. The 8-speed transmission is a Getrag transmission and I've driven the same trans in a different vehicle. Drives like butter too.

Our 09 Ram also has a LIFETIME powertrain warranty - yes, as long a we own the truck. Doubt Chrysler would offer that if they expected the trans to go every 60K.

The Tundra Platinums are pretty nice. You can set up a 60" plasma in the back seat too. My god it's HUGE back there. I think the words too big were used when I was looking at one. Not the truck, the back seat. I'm pretty sure most normal people can sit back there and not touch the front seat with their feet. They drive nice too.

Tacomas are built for their performance not their luxury. If you start having them put in leather and heated mirrors you will pay 5k more for the truck and it willl not be the solid truck it is today. so I say you want luxury, than mod it or by a Lexus :)

Its incredibly sad that you and the rest of the carnival show on this thread can't leave OP alone. Not only is he correct in his assessment of the latest Tacoma's, but if he wants to change trucks, crap why not? Best to keep your yaps shut and only talk when you have some knowledgeable comments to share. Kapeesh?

I think the only problem people are having with the OP is him claiming this was a good financial decision.

This is an internet forum where a captive audience is free to post their opinion on the subject just the same as OP.

On a side note, if you sell your Tacoma and somehow didn't really know there had not been any big changes in the current models then that one is on you. Yeah, Toyota is slow to release the next gen, but the main competition (AKA Frontier) hasn't done much either. They run it like a business, and if vehicles are selling with no competition, why go ahead and invest resources in next gen design if you don't need to?

Personally I'd rather see Chevy release their crap then Toyota 1 up everyone else when they release their new Tacoma.
