you'd be surprised what you use on a daily basis in the real world

might not be as detailed as class, but you'll still use it

I just think it's stupid to take a class when it won't help your career.

How should it be stricter? College or HS?

It's not right, and there should be a way to change it.

I took english the 10 years I was in High school, they taught proof reading along with book reports, essays, and a bunch of other stuff.

Nope, graduated a little over a year ago.

I just can't see where I'd be writing essays while working on cars.

Yup. Again, comes down to work ethic.

Is anything being accomplished by you saying it's not worth your time? No. Why hurt yourself by not doing it and suffer later because of it?

If you don't think college will help your career, then get out. Nobody is forcing you to stay in.

 

write a company a letter to try and get a parts sponsorship
write a customer/intermediate to try and avoid getting sued
write a response to a customer who had a bad experience
write a bio for the shop website
write an editorial complaining about some unfair legal practice you're facing

on and on

dude we have already gone over this. throughout your entire life you be required to do tasks, projects, what ever that dont pertain in any way at all to "what you are interested in" or what your "job title is". Guess what you do, you suck it the fuck up and complete that task to the best of your abilities and show you can succeed in anything, not fail at it, complain, and say it doesent pertain to your career. That is an attitude problem, not a problem with the class, or school, or curriculum.

also, do you realize how many adults are borderline illiterate and have lost most of their grammar abilities because after school they never used them or practiced. It is really embarrassing when you are trying to seem intelligent and you cant spell simple words. So sorry buddy, English is a pretty relevant class to pay attention in.

You think I was happy taking classes such as Art Appreciation or Appretiation of Philosophy? Heck no, but I sucked it up and got through the "BS" classes to get my degree which will open doors in the future. Beleive me, you may not realize it but even the BS classes will shape you into a better, more rounded person. You can tell just from talking to people who's educated and who's not. And besides, if you didn't have the "crappy" classes you wouldn't know you enjoyed the other ones.
