The only other Taco I see off Stoney Point is that DCSB RED parked across from the restaurant on the corner at Todd and Stoney Point. What color was that other truck you saw on Stoney Point?

I drive that road everyday, DCSB black sand pearl, HID fogs, blacked out chrome

BTW, I think I see the same Black Tacoma in Petaluma.

I'm definitely interested! Currently trying to figure out this whole suspension lift thing so I can hit up meets and trails. I actually ended up here while using the good ol' search function, trying to learn about suspension lift kits. Hoping to gain some knowledge and get my rig looking as sexy as all the Taco's I've been seeing on this thread!!

I've been looking into OME because my brother highly recommends it. But they only have a 2" kit. I'd like to go with a 3-4" lift, so Ive also been looking into toytec and bilstein. Id love to have allpro or icon but it's just more than I want to spend and I really don't need it for my 90% highway driving.

Im just mainly trying to research what I need exactly for a full kit. Whatever is included in front suspension (shocks and coils?) and rear suspension (leafs and shocks?) plus arms and spindles..

I also want to add armor soon after. Probably just an ARB front bumper.

In calculating what front set up to use, you need to take into account the weight of the ARB you plan to use, usually folks put a stiffer coil to handle the added weight.

Yeah my mom did OME and loves it! I don't think she ever got measurements but it was like 2-3". She got new UCAs for that lift as well. She ordered through toyota of dallas and they were super helpful!
She has the same plan, armor soon! But unless you do the armor at the same time as the stiffer coils, go with the slightly less stiff one because the ride will be quite rigid otherwise. She still hasn't put much more armor on yet so it was good that she went with the lighter coils (it's been almost a year now).

    Hi Aaron, welcome.

    There's a big difference between a 3" lift and a 4" lift.

3" is the max you can get out of the stock suspension setup by changing or spacing the stock shocks and coils. After that you have to go to what's called a "drop bracket" lift that lowers the control arm attachment points. It's a big increase in cost and complexity.

Pre-runners that are not 4x4 can use special replacement spindles to achieve 4" lift, since they don't have a front CV axle.

By mixing and matching the right OME components - you can get a full 3" lift, but most folks find that OME 885 springs with OME shocks lifts a non-armored V6 4x4 about 3".

As far as armor goes - the best single piece of armor for off-roading is sliders to protect the rocker panels. Rocker panels are your most vulnerable point, and that also gives you a good jacking point to use a high-lift jack in the event that you need to change a tire while off roading or jack up the truck and pile up some rocks underneath in order to be able to drive out of a stuck situation.

My own truck has sliders, skid plates, differential and lower-control arm armor, and a high clearance rear bumper... but still the stock front bumper.

Oh i forgot, i was looking into sliders a little while back. From what ive read about ome though is that to get a full 3" lift, you have to use blocks with the 2" kit

Opinions and experiences vary. Keep in mind:

    1. trucks weigh differently based on options and how must stuff is in them

    2. different people get different amounts of lift based on how "tired" their factory springs were before they replaced them with brand new upgraded offroad springs.

Ring up Dan at Wheelers Offroad when you want to order your kit to discuss the various options. He's really knowledgeable about the lift options available on our Tacomas. And it won't hurt to put a small top plate on top of the coilover assembly if that's how you decide to do it.
