I think they changed painting process in 2009 for frames. Maybe thats why they skipping 2009+.
2005-2008 are crappy painted. Plus frame has manufacturing holes right next to wheels which results in all ice, slush and water to be pushed inside the frame.
I think 2005-2008 TSB should be extended to all states...

Just dropped it off at Milford Toyota. They said standard procedure is to just replace all 05-08 with a new upgraded aluminum frame (dealer said that takes about 4 hours). Also there going to throw in a diesel (another 2 hours). And heated mirrors. So should be ready by 4. I will let you know.

dana made the frames, up to 2008-2009

they all had issues with rust and dana had to pay toyota millions in compensation

now that dana sold off the division that makes frames, toyota has been
using frames from Metalsa, S.A. de C.V, and they have their own frame dipping
and coating process. hopefully from 2009 forward there will be no more early corrosion
    issues

Too bad they didn't release this earlier , I have already brought my truck to Auto Rust Technicians to have them sandblast and then coat the frame of my truck. I think they will do a much more through job than just putting on some paint .

It is estimated to be $750. For that price I want them to do a very thorough job. I will let everyone know how it turned out when I get the truck back.

No salt usage in Iowa. But something on the winter roads melts the ice and snow, leaves a white haze on bluTaco, crusts up on the carpet and rusts my frame and spare tire wheel! How do they come up with these lists?

So I dropped off the truck in the morning and then was called to come pick up the truck yesterday. Turns out the service agent I was working with was on her first day and she just wasn't clued in at all. When I got there, they told me that actually they hadn't started the work and that it would take 48 hours. 1 day to remove rust and apply compound. 1 day for compound to dry. So the bottom line is that I will go back next week, give them the truck, and they will give me a rental. I will update everybody then. TTYL.

I'd like to get this done on my newly acquired 05, as a preventative measure, but I haven't found anyone in S.C. That does it yet. I haven't started looking to hard yet, though. Thankfully, salt usage is minimal here.

Yeah I'd like to know what the fuck Canadians are supposed to do. My 05 is pretty nasty under there. I was going to have a shop deal with it but if Toyota will do it then thats better.

I would also like to know what they are doing for Canadians? My 07 doesn't look all that good either.

My 06 is not bad at all as I don't daily drive it, and I wash the frame pretty diligently, but it would be nice to know for the future.

Too bad your not in the Northeast, these guys look like they do good work. Its funny, they mostly work on Heeps, since their frames rot out. This company makes replacement pieces for frames on Wranglers, and they do the sandbast/undercoat as a secondary part.

Slim pick'ns down here for this kind of work....called a few body shops and 2 dealships and came back with one guy who does it. He doesn't sandblast, just sprays the frame with some sort of rubberized coating, similar to line-x. Upside is the job is less than $200.

But that's the problem. You need to get rid of the rust, to prevent it growing and then leading to rot. I tried last year during the summer to wire wheel and undercoat my frame at home, but it didn't last one winter. Good luck with your search!

My lil man's carseat. Bilstein pre-loads in the front Bilsteins in the rear. Hitch.('06 Taco) '06 SR5 Dbl. Cab...RIP '14 Well my lil man is no longer in a carseat, so in this one is stock til i figure out what i want to add to her!
They will inspect, if there is a hole over 11mm it will require replacement and will take 3-4 weeks. So be prepared to be in a rental for a bit. Just got mine inspected at Acton Toyota, and a failure.

For $750 you may want to rethink your "thorough" job. That's about one days labor and no materials around here.

For that money I'd pressure wash your frame and spray it, but that's it.
