I've been considering it to cut down on splash back on high speed water crossings. As it is now I'm blind for a few seconds even with the wipers on panic.

Also...hey, I might be able to squeeze another 5mph out of er.

I hate to interrupt the awesomeness that has been going on but I need some guidance..

I have the 50t pack and I fabbed up some 12" shackles..

My dilemma..I sag..bad..so besides re-arching the leafs..can i also increase or decrease my shackle length to achieve less sag?

    Thanks in advance guys!!

What is your weight situation look like?

Your shackles should be a lot straighter at full droop.

My 12" and 50t drooped but I was very heavy out back. I spoke with Deaver and we determined I needed my shackles to be clocked closer to the cab.

I switched to 13" and it helped .5/1" but finally switching to a custom shorter length pack fixed all my issues.

I found that after a couple years, even with a re-arch the 50T wouldn't hold up to the weight I carry. I ended up putting in another leaf between the third and 4th leaf from the top with some wicked arch in it. I also removed all the pucks and plates and hand chamfered each leaf. I'm sitting with ~9.5" up and 7" down now.

A longer shackle will only do so much. It will swing your shackle angle away from the cab causing a little height increase as well as preload the springs. This will increase the spring rate and harshness more than height gain.

If I was more patient I probably could have done what JBerry did. It would have been cheaper than a full new pack.

Shackles are supposed to be used for one thing....and it's not to add travel or lift. Leafs change in lateral length, shorter at droop and longer towards bump. The sole responsibility of a shackle is to accommodate the change in lateral length. Aside from that, leaf springs are not just springs they are also what locates the axle, side to side and front to back. While driving, accelerating, braking, turning or articulating the rear axle wants to flop all over the fucking place. The only thing stopping that is the spring. Now think of the spring as a giant lever magnifying all that force into the hanger. Travel isn't the problem (the shackle pivoting soaks that up) its the side load and twisting action that the shackle and pivot get subjected to that starts breaking parts. Longer shackles mean's a longer "lever"...and in spirited driving...bent frames. Gusset accordingly!
