I'll start by saying I almost never buy from Crutchfield since I can always find better places that beat the price. However, I'm glad I did this time.

I decided to put an AppRadio 3 in the truck and crutchfield has a $70 price cut on it right now, putting it at $329. That plus free shipping and install gear and it was a no brainer.

So I got everything in and first thing I noticed was some small gashes on the bottom of the dash kit. Went to CF chat, told them, and he sent out a new one, no questions asked. Didn't ask for this one back. Sweet

Then I got the radio installed and everything worked just fine. Except I could see a few specs of dust under the actual screen. And once I saw it, I couldn't unsee it. So back to CF chat. The rep just asked if maybe I forgot to remove the protective layer. It doesn't have one and I told him that. So he said, okay here's a return label, please have that one back to us in 14 days. Your new headunit will be there Monday. Done and done. I'll be hard pressed to go anywhere but CF after this.

Edit: sorry if this is in the wrong section...figured CF was audio/video so it could work here

They are the kings of MSRP, but their customer service makes up for it.

Say which dash kit? Looks like I'm going to put the DEH-80PRS in my TRD Sport so I'll be in the hunt for one.

Thanks. From reading I suspect I'm going to need the gloss metallic version.

Good to hear. I've used them in the past, and also have nothing bad to say about them. Even with install questions, they where always glad to help.

I've used Crutchfield many times in the past, sure I've found individual items cheaper. But I've got to say from what I've experienced "You get what you pay for" and they are defiantly top notch :)

Their high prices scare me away, but i'm glad to see they make up for it in customer service. Not many companies have authorized online distributors other than CF, so sometimes you must go with them if you want any type of factory warranty. With that said, their prices rival those of other authorized distributors, so it's not that much of a bad deal after all.

There customer service is like no other, a lot of times i find myself paying the premium for customer service. they will help you on anything even if you didn't buy through them. cant ask for much more.

I agree. I bought a 6" touchscreen heaunit from them, when i got it i decided i wanted a 7". Returned the 6" no questions asked. Recently i bought a TV from them, about a month later it went on sale $100 cheaper. Called them up and they credited me back $100. I will always use crutchfields. Plus you accumulate points to cash in when you make purchases, i have about $125 in crutchfield points.

I usually turn to eBay for good prices. Find good reviews on Amazon, then go look for the product on eBay under "buy now" and "lowest to highest price" lol. I always look for sellers with good ratings (If they are established, I usually never buy from anyone with less than 99% positive feedback).

Anyhow, this is really good to know. Thank you for posting.

Walked into a CF one day to return a blown (by a bolt in the trunk of my car) subwoofer that I paid $100 from the outlet. Employee walks up to me with a screwdriver and says "we don't have anymore of those, so I have to give you the newer model of it, just leave the screwdriver and the subwoofer on the counter when you're done." New one cost over $300. LOVE their customer service.

I just ordered a cheap kenwood hu and it came with free speakers. One of the speakers was DOA so I just called them up to fix it. A very nice lady picked up the call by the second ring, identified my order by just my name and had emailed me a copy of the RMA and confirmed my replacement order was on the way within 5 minutes. Truly top notch customer service!

hid head lights, hid fog lights, always on fog lights, bed lights
the higher price is what funds the "customer service experience".
the Apple store is a perfect example.
you can always get the exact same thing at rock bottom price or at msrp.
if you have extra cash, its always nice to get treated nicely by the vendor. There are discount stores (even on ebay) that offers the same level of service, but harder to find. I believe Amazon provides a higher level of service to their prime customers.

there is a good reason why crutchfield has been around for years selling at msrp.

I like mine a lot. After adding the app radio and the B-8PTD, the sound with stock door speakers is like night and day compared to just stock head unit. I've never had a full legit system and the compact subs fills in the low end just right for me. And it does fit completely under the seat. Search around, lots of other people on here have reviewed that sub too
