Do you have close up pics of bracket you made?

Posted this on another thread but figured I would put it here also.
Bracket made from 1/8" x 3/4" flat alum stock.
Slight tweak in it so can will hang level.

Sits even with the top of the intake cover. Gotta love all the pollen this time of the year.

Fixed the hose routing after I looked at the photos.
Mounted it here because I still have a Redline Tuning hood strut kit to install.

Not quite. If an engine is "burning oil," it usually means the valve stem seals and/or piston rings are shot and they are leaking oil into the combustion chamber. Vehicles are equipped with check valves, sometimes known as PCV valves that allow excessive pressure built up in the crank case to vent oil. The oil usually is vented back into the throttle intake which then makes it's way into the cylinders and ends up being burned by the ignition sequence. Most newer cars, you won't notice this. Sometimes, in boosted applications, you might even install a stronger check valve like the Krank Vents.

Finally got mine put in last night. If any other 6 Speed Off Road people are looking for a place to put one, there are three studs coming up on the passenger side that you can use (at least I hope you can).
Didn't realize how much pollen has already gotten inside the engine bay, definitely time for a clean.

Sorry it took me so long to do this. I don't have a pic of the bracket alone, but I'll be making another when I get a chance as I had to make a second set of holes (you can see in the originals in the pic) to move the tank rearward slightly to get more clearance for the fuse box.

The bracket is made from a standard 4" galvanized steel electrical box cover (flat) which I trimmed, shaped, painted and bent slightly to compensate for the angle of the holes in the fender. It was very simple, really. This location is available on automatic transmission vehicles.

I didn't realize this particular tank was so popular.

Thanks to Detective Dan, I was able to install my Oil Catch Can with only a couple of hitches along the way.

First I made a bracket to attach the Oil Catch Can bracket too. I made my first bracket out of a piece of aluminum flashing I had laying around. It came out great! I attached it to the pre-existing holes with M8-1.25 screws.

Until I connected both hoses, then it began to sag. I was afraid it would continue to fall with driving conditions and start to hit the side fender wall.

So, I made a second bracket out of a piece of stainless steel I picked up at Lowe’s in their lumber/fencing department. I’ve used these brackets for many other projects, and they work great.

Attaching the 7/16” hoses to the engine was not difficult.
The hose I attached to the Inlet of the Oil Catch Can measured 19½ “.

The hose I attached to the Outlet of the Oil Catch Can measured 18”.

The only other hitch I had along the way was that I purchased 8 feet of 7/16" hose. Advanced Auto was great, and they allowed me to return the extra 5 feet of hose. Overall, a very easy project which I hope will prolong my engine life.

But, you're going to need that hose for the rear axle vent mod.

    My Tacoma isn't a 4x4. I don't think I need that mod.

I finally got around to making another bracket for the catch can, so I took some pics during the process. As it turns out this model catch can is rather popular and if your Tacoma is an automatic and you can take advantage of the two threaded holes on the inside of the left front fender, this bracket is a simple, sturdy and tidy looking solution.

It's made from a standard galvanized 4" electrical junction box cover plate. It's thick and strong enough to withstand whatever should be asked of it. The design is simple, and the pics progress you through from the bare plate to an example of it marked for cutting and drilling, to the final shape and lastly painted, assembled and in place.

When I first installed the catch can, it took a while before I noticed any oil accumulation inside. But, it's now shown that it's working and likely well worth the effort. Good luck, everyone.

Anyone have this installed where it gets below freezing for 5 months of the year? Just wondering if it would freeze and cause more trouble. I would hate to do this and have to remove/install every year

I live in Idaho where we "enjoy" freezing temperatures for several months of the year. I think the only way this would be a problem is if you regularly encounter freezing temperatures AND have concurrent high humidity. Here, humidity is pretty average and my catch can never has any significant moisture in it, just oil. As long as I drain whatever's in the can before the end of October, I think I'll be good to go through winter. And of course, even in winter, the engine compartment should warm up in normal use to the point that you could empty the can. I'm not overly concerned, but I'll keep an eye on it.
