Are there any other tailgate locks other than Pop and Lock for the Taco? I bought the PL 5300 and it failed after 13 months, just bought the PL5400 and I have to struggle to make it lock, I only had it for a month. I don't dare lock it anymore because if it fails, I would have to break it to open my tailgate (I have a cover and cant access the interior without the tailgate).

I have been very disappointed with the product and lack of service. I have sent emails and left messages over the phone and didn't get any responses. I bought them directly form P&L in order to get the warranty and service, so much for that!

I spend about 1/3 of the time on dirt/forestry roads for my job and unlike the Taco, their product doesn't seem to stand up to that harsh environment so I'm looking for something more durable.

What about the E-Z clamp from Autozone. Cost me $2.99 for 2 of them and they came with a special key so the average guy can't just unscrew it.

+1 on the EZ clamp. I've done the same on mine, after learning about it here on TW.

I have a cover on the bed and I would like to secure the tailgate so that my equipment in the bed doesn't get robbed. I believe the E-Z clamp only prevents the tailgate itself from being robbed.
