4wd association ??

So i was pondering over the idea....

Creating a toyota 4wd association. One in which we would have scheduled runs/events (at least 1 per month) and a 101 4wd class for people new to the recreation. Being a graphic designer it would be easy to set up the website, forums, logo, etc. but i was wondering if people would even be into this? I got the idea from www.ct4wda.com < Canada toyota 4wd association. I think its really cool that everyone is pretty close knit on there and they always have a trail run, class, or bbq going on each month. Just tossing it out there i want to hear peoples thoughts. Opening up and running a club or association is A LOT OF WORK. If you can't find enough dedicated people to help you run & plan everything.... you'll get sick & tired of doing everything yourself. I've been involved with running clubs for 8 years. When you first start out, it's all good & fun and everyone wants a piece of it. But after several years, people die off and you're stuck doing everything yourself and things eventually die-off.


Why not join forces with and your local chapter? Get involved with something that's already established?

Or better yet...... start your own TacomaWorld chapter (if TW allows it).

 

Yeah, just join up with TTORA NorCal chapter. I think they have runs every month or so.

There are a lot of PreRunner guys with TTORA.

 

Whatever is fine. I've just heard bad things about ttora. I've never actually checked it out though so I shouldn't judge.

 

Its not that there bad people or anything its that there alot more hardcore about trail meets. There not into all the cosmetic mods or the meet and greet BBQ days. I want to create an atmosphere where its relaxing and no matter how new or old you are to the recreation you can still have fun. Just my thoughts...

From a FORUM standpoint - TTORA can be pretty hard-assed.

But - You gotta join the chapter and meet the folks in person. Meeting people in person is much different than the forum atmosphere. Each chapter has its own forum also - so you can skip the main forum riffraff and just chat with the locals.

I would severly hope that each TTORA chapter would cater to all levels of wheeling including 2WD folks. If they don't - that's a damn shame.

The hobby NEEDS to get new folks interested, trained, accustomed to trail etiquette, and gain experience - if the hobby is gonna last into the future.

 

WOW you really need to check out NorCal TTORA. TTORA has lightened up a lot but if all you wanna do paint badges don't join. We use our chit the way toyota meant for them to be used.

And there are a ton of clubs in the NorCal. I am a member of NorCal 4 Wheelers and Cal 4 wheeldrive.

NC4W does runs year round and we have nothing against prerunners if you know how to use it.

 

To me it sounds like a great idea. All of us got to go on a run again, i will hopefully be getting my license this week or next week if all goes well. Hit me up if you need help with anything, i will try to help.
