It's not too bad with the 4.88's, it still gets up and goes. Hills are another story but the 2rz is still able to do pretty well with an aem dry flow, header, and exhaust.

I will in fact eventually run a turbo on here because believe it or not it still gets decent gas mileage and with the extra power it would be able to move that weight around when needed or get a couple extra mpg off boost.

I used to pull a 6x6 trailer with wood, ice chest, and fuel in it too and other than the big hills going up and down the 8 towards El Centro I was able to keep it chugging along.

But turbo will make it that much better

It's either that or build up the 1UZFE and stick a turbo on her instead. Ah f it, I'll just do both.

I like the toyota logo. Almost had enough room to add in devil horns.

Going to run it at 5psi until I get a piggy back ecu, bigger injectors and route my intercooler. Then I will run 14-17 out in the desert and street.

Nice, is there a pic attached? Please, list some specs on what you have. I'm getting mine together at the moment too. Tired of having no power

I just bought it off some dude in Florida so its on its way here. It has a Garrett water cooled turbo, LCE manifold, and a Tial bov. I tried to make sure it was going to clear the tubes on my engine cage which I might get lucky otherwise chop the flange and modify it to fit. I don't have Megasquirt yet, but the guy I got it from @ CT, said he ran 5lbs on stock ecu and said it worked just fine with about 40hp gain and his buddy with the same setup running an intercooler, megasquirt, and pink top injectors (which mine came stock with) is getting close to 310rwhp with 12-14lbs of boost and is hard on the motor with just a set of ARP head studs and a better head gasket.

The good thing about our 2RZ's which a lot of people know (I'm sure you too) is that they can handle a ton of boost on the stock internals, minus head studs and head gaskets, the weaker link comes down to the transmission. From what a lot of people have told me is you don't need to upgrade your fuel rail, just add bigger injectors, and a better induction system ie intake manifold to allow the forced air to get through the ports quicker.

Sweet, 2 turbo lt 2rz trucks in socal. I'll get my build thread going soon. I'm going to have the same issue as you with the cage. I can't make really any power though until I strengthen my drive line

You know, I've always wondered about the 4-port vs 8-port intake manifold and which would provide better air flow but I don't think anybody really broke it down. I'm going to say your 8-port is probably better with a turbo, but I know that when they deleted the egr and did a 4-port it helped gain HP for the N/A 2rz.

The 2 manifolds are so close to each other I doubt for turbo applications you could tell that much of a difference between the 2. Unless one manifold is port matched better.

It would be cool to see what what one has a lower pressure differential along the runners. I would have to say your 4 port is better along the runners. You have less surface area and a larger cross sectional area assuming the casting surface is the same. I think all this goes out the door once you look that the intake ports on the head. I never really took apart our motors really. Well not yet at least. 300WHP is going to be pretty nasty to begin with in our trucks to begin with. After the 300 mark I think that is where some money is actually going to be needed to keep things from breaking.

Yeah, but from the CT forum which you know, people are putting a lot of HP down to the wheels and aren't talking much about things breaking, BUT, they are street driven and don't see boost for more than 15-20 min tops.

To be fair though, 2rz's are pretty cheap anyways so it's not like a huge money loss, nonetheless it's not the bottom end that has problems anyways so its even cheaper. I am very curious to see how long these motors last under racing conditions. If a 22r/re can boost through a 100 mile race, I don't see the 2rz not being able to surpass that or equal that with higher boost.

I'll agree with you there. I think the 2rz motor will handle the power just fine. Maybe a larger radiator might be needed and some new rings every other year.

The breaking part I meant to say would be the transmission. I see guys hooking up a supra tranny. I think I saw adapters for chevy transmissions.

Are you going to try to keep it "street legal" or just go fuk it full race truck at this point?

I'm going to keep driving it on the street even if I have to pay extra to get it to pass smog. Had to do that last time because of the fuel cell, so I am good until 2015. I am hoping I can register it somewhere smog exempt though before the next time I have to fork over a heap of dough.

    Making progress but ran into a little snag, all in all it's been going pretty smooth;

That beast fits in there near perfect. Easy fix for the wastegate. Does that header use the egr or you capping it off?
