typical union talking points. The business owner is taking all the risk and should make more than the workers. So if you owned a business you would pay the workers the same as what you profited? Then why own a business. I started my business to make more money. I also take all the risks so I should make more than my employees.

We are not talking about stock traders we are talking about unions. Government workers are union ..When did I say anything about teachers or trades worker pay being to far apart.

Also is it fair for two workers to make the same pay based solely on time served? No it is not.. workers should be paid on quality and competence of work. This is why union workers are for the most part lazy. Just go to any DMV here in California you will see what I am talking about.

It's not hilarious to talk about city workers pensions when they are breaking the bank and bankrupting the city. I know you are just brainwashed by the union talking points but maybe some day you will see the truth.

lol your such an idiot, clearly you have no clue. I have worked in both union and non union environments. Non union work places is where who you are has the most effect on how much you make. Buddies, clicks, family and whatever is where you get your job from, not from how much time you put into a job. Maybe it your part of the world its different, but here thats how it is.
So by what your saying, a 50 year old who has a broken down body from making the company money for his last 30 years, should just be replaced by a younger more healthy worker, sending the old guy off to find a new job until he retires? Thats pathetic. Im 27 and when Im 50+ Im glad I will have the opportunity to do the same job Im doing now.
Oh and if you dont want risk of owning a company, then dont own a fucking company. Simple as that. You should make more as owner for sure, but not 100 times more. The company I work for has a net worth of 8 billion dollars owned by a single guy who sits and does not work. So by your logic, this guy should be raking in billions a year, while some 50 year old guy who just made him billions for 30 years can go get another job because his working pace and productivity has declined, and the owner might only make 7.999999999 billion next year, not a full 8 billion?
Union is the only way to go. I worked both and thats the final truth.

Also, you comment "most union workers are lazy".
Well if you want to go saying that, IMO I think most non union workers (trade workers) are alcoholics or drug addicts who dont have to worry about safety and getting fired for violating rules. Thats why they like being on their own and working in non union company simply to be able to do that all day. In union environments thats unacceptable and does not happen as often because it violates the safety of others and themselves.

Both those points are untrue or outright lies. My wife is a federal employee, and my mother in law was a state employee. Both of which are/were non union.

Your other statement of the 'reason' why union workers are lazy is just an uneducated ignorant comment.

    Union Tinknocker for 25yrs.!

Why blame Unions when there are contract negotiations with representation from both sides?

Labor chose the term for unity "Union". Contractors chose "Association". History may prove that the Association was born prior to the Union.

.......And you can't lump together State/Federal workers with Construction Labor. If I don't work then I don't get paid and my health care and pensions are paid for through my hourly rate. Yes I can retire earlier than most but at a huge fraction than if I waited until 65(?). Our contractors reserve the right to get rid of you for any reason, and its not the Owner making the call, it's my Brothers making that call. Don't fit in? Whine? Hurt and can't pull your weight? You're gone.

The way I see it my choice has answered the question to a problem.
    1. I HAVE HEALTHCARE THAT I PAY FOR.
2.I HAVE A RETIREMENT FOR MY LATER YEARS.

My apprenticeship gave me the beginning of an education that I've built on. My Brothers have the same basic education and we've paid for a better facility and education for our future Brothers. The requirement of the apprenticeship WEEDS OUT THE UNMOTIVATED.

If your not a fan of Labor Unions that's perfectly fine. But if you look at me and think my blessed life is all because of some easy street labor union your wrong.

    My rant is now over.

I noticed you added the word exploitation in there. That was not in the question I asked you.

Bottom line is that you would prefer a kid to starve than to go to work and help his family.

It is exploitation. How about the country, corporations, or the people collectively get together and help the children instead of exploiting the children for child labor. Oh wait, you don't like collectivism.

You'd be happy to know that there are many countries that support your ideals on child labor.

Countries like Eritrea, Somalia, Democratic Republic of Congo, Myanmar, Sudan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Zimbabwe and Yemen China, India, Russia, Brazil, North Korea, and Mexico.

About 158 million children between the ages of 5-14 are used in child labor. Those countries all support child labor so the children can feed their families. Not in anyway to exploit them as cheap labor.

Heartless countries like Canada, US, United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, and France all have laws protecting against child labor. They would rather see children go hungry.

you gotta be 55 and work something like 42000 hours which comes out to like 21 years or something. but since i got in at only 20, in 21 years ill only be 41 so to get full coverage with retirement i gotta wait till 55
