It's less Tacoma and more mod
I can't get a second gen because I cant afford one, but now I don't think I can because who could figure out this nonsense. I kid, but really they could pare all of this down into a simple one light one button system plus or minus a locker and prolly be fine. Hope when I get a second gen, marketing isn't controlling what the systems do.

Is there any danger/concern running this while daily driving?

I got a chance to try out some combinations last weekend and on one hill there's a steep section with deep holes that puts opposite corners in holes and the other front tire with traction had to step up onto a rock face. I had the locker on and A-TRAC off and even then I spun out. I hit the A-TRAC button and it started to spin and immediately locked up and pulled over the rock and on up the rest of the climb. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it worked.

I also did the locker anytime mod and I must say it's a nice feature to have. In most cases, just hitting the locker button in 2wd will do the job with no need to engage 4wd. I also like being able to run in 4HI with the locker on in sand.

Though OZ says no danger with it off....there is a situation where VSC can save your skin

the 'moose test' (evasive maneuver test) has the best chance of success with all systems enabled VSC on. so, like in traffic on highway 45 mph or higher, it is generally best to leave it on, in case the unexpected happens. I have some real world pants-shitting happen to my 2013 tacoma at 70mph and VSC did it's dance clicking and grinding my ABS and throttle every which way, and even though I think my driver skill was key to keeping the rubber down, it recovered and stabilized much faster than I thought it could do

That's a good point... A what point do you think the VSC and other electronic controls become ineffective (or dangerous?) when a truck is lifted? Installing larger tires would probably have a similar effect?

There is also an ABS bypass switch mod so you can enable / disable all related systems in the fly

For anyone who does not lift their truck... anymore than what the 1" taller than stock 265/75-16 tires add... need not worry about the VSC. It only wigs out when you raise the truck with suspension mods.

Wow? I wonder why mine didn't... How much taller is the 265/70-17 from what ever is stock on the Sports?

The Off Road comes with 265/70-16 and I went to 265/75-16 which is approx. 1" taller in diameter (adds 1/2" of ground clearance). Not a thing changed with my VSC or anything else (and no rub on or off road with these tires).

265/70/17 is the same size as 265/75/16

The Sports come stock with 265/65/17 which is the same size as 265/70/16

Never got a revised tech sheet for the 2012. Now, we have an all new 2016 Tacoma with Multi-terrain select and Crawl control... Looking forward to the details on how all that works.

This thread could be re-named Traction Controls 2009-2015, however, I don't seem to be able to edit the title after so many years?

pfft.....what it lacks in missing a front locker, it makes up for in being able to fit more stuff in the back.
