2005-2010 6spd 4x4, same truck, 4 MPG ratings

Flipping thru the new 2010 specs, EPA mpg has changed again, worse then ever. Now its the same a Hemi Ram or F150. My neighbor has a Hemi Ram, yea 15, I get 20 on similar commute. Makes me wonder who the hell is driving in the test. Auto stayed the same 16/20.

Who cares what the EPA says you get. Whats important is what you actually get out in the real world.

 

Those numbers look pretty real world to me. I get 15mpg around town, 250 gallons per tank.

 

You should have that thing checked out by a dealer ASAP. I think they put the wrong tank on your truck.

 

Must cost a fortune to fill that thing up

 

I chose the standard gas tank cause I'm a cheap bastard.

I get 18/21. 6th gear should have been taller IMO.

 

WOW, there's something really wrong, with those ratings, unless my speedo and odometer is messed i used to get almost 400 miles per tank stock, and filling only with 18-19 gallons. Our stock trd rims and those rugged trails are way lighter then my current wheel and tires, even though there the same size.

 

2008 was the first year the EPA started using the "more realistic" test, so that explains the difference from 07 to 08, but not 09 and 10. Maybe they re-tested the trucks? My EPA rating on my 2.7 5spd is 17 city, 22 hwy and I average about 20mpg in mixed driving. It seems they did a good job testing the 2.7, but maybe not the 4.0.

Just about every car maker took a hit when the revised MPG testing standards came out. IIRC, the old HWY MPG testing was based on a 55 MPH test speed.

 

^Well what's wrong with that? Who drives above 55mph?

 

I totally agree that 6th gear should have been taller. I like the 6 gears but I think they should have spread the gears out a little more than they did. I find myself skipping gears often with very little if any notice.

As for MPG I've gotten better mileage with every tank so far. I have an '09 TRD OR 4x4 access cab with ~2500 miles, so far the best I gotten has been 21.4. That was getting 380 miles to one tank.
