I am up at JBLM doing some training with 5-5 ADA soldiers. Keep an eye out for my White supercharged 2010 Sport with high clearance bumpers and rear tire carrier.

Good looking truck man, I am wanting some of that same style you have.

I really want to get a rear bumper with tire carrier.

Only thing I don't like is that I can't use the bed with the tailgate down. I might remove the swing away part of it soon.

This thread was doing good for a while then it kinda died off :/

Anyways I am set to get out in November, Looking at trying to get into the VIP (veterans in piping) program. They set you up with the union and learn your new trade either welding, or HVACR for 18 weeks while still in the army. Then they send you straight to a company thats hiring any where you want in the US.

Buuuut I dont know if they will have any classes starting in time when I redeploy back to the states. So I am trying to work some back up plans right now.

Option 1- try to find another career. I have been job searching for a while and it sucks. And I don't really know what I want to do once I get out. I applied to rail roads, shipping jobs, basically anything that could hire an 11Bang Bang. I would choose this to pay off my loans and get on my feet. Then I would either quit working go to school (if I didn't like the job) or keep working and just go to school for a side business potential, like welding or car repair

Option 2- study for SATs and take the test, go to a traditional 4 year in probably aerospace engineering. I would need a part time job to pay the bills. Which could be anything I suppose.

Option 3- Go to Technical school for welding, reason why this isn't higher is I wouldn't have a shoe in the door for a job or with a union and I would need a part time job for the bills here also.

So anyone who recently got out tell me what they did, and how they did it. Really regret not using tuition assistance while I was in, but with my units training and turn over rates it wasn't really feasible. So any opinions on this would really really be appreciated!!

    Yo Zach,

Yeah I noticed this went dead before we even had one meet! Haha but it was a good attempt, there are a ton of TACO's rolling around but aren't aware of this site I guess.

I just got out on April 6 and it's a good feeling, no more benefits however and I need a damn crown. The ACAP Programs (HVAC, VIP, Welding) are all good ones to choose from, I am unaware of the start dates but I'll call ACAP for you. It will work out great for you because they require you be towards the end of your contract. Just need a BC signature to go to them.

For your Opt 1 man, I do suggest enrolling in ACAP right when you get back and finish all the mandated classes then go to the Job fairs held all over the place... I went to one, you could apply at TSA and a ton of 11B qualified jobs just bring your resume. For the dates of these Job Fairs check their Facebook ''JBLM ACAP''.

For Opt 2, College is good too, but to save some more dough you might want to go to a Community College then transfer to a State University or University to get your B.A/B.S. Just make sure the credits are transferable.

Opt 3, Just do it if Opt 1 & 2 fail man.

    ---

So now what am I up to? Few months before I got out I applied online to my local community college and applied at the Police Academy. I took a 4 day pass and went and did the written test and the Physical test, I am still waiting on a acceptance letter or rejection letter lol... Just remember to utilize ACAP! They got resume building stuff and Job fairs all the time!

My unit screwed me, if I would have went to EMT while I was in I would be a firefighter like white on rice on a paper plate in a snow storm
