I had my Camaro for 7 years without the front plate on. There was no place to mount it.

Here in the Bay Area a right turn on a red light (also right turn at stop sign) seems to mean slow down a little, look to the left (only) and then punch it.
I swear that's the way the driving instructors must teach it.
I hate that, God help any pedestrians to the driver's right that may have the right of way.

Unless otherwise posted, a red light is treated the same as a stop sign in California. You must come to a complete and full stop and then proceed with your turn.
If the stop sign or traffic light is on your left at the intersection then it is treated the same as a yield and you can merge without stopping if clear.

You are out "In" public. You can not. and should not expect any right to privacy, per se'. They say driving is a privilege, not a right. And unfortunately, most if not all states have something in the laws preventing you from obscuring your plate(s).:(

    Guys, Guys, just a minute!
I just retired from working for PD. in our city. But not a cop anyway,
There is NOT A PICTURE, Is a video, continue video, on which the computer selects the images during the RED light. During the RED light, if the sensor acknowledges a movement, than it adds a flash. Just in case to increase the chances of a good case.
So, if is a nice sunny day and the sun is up, then they have 15-20 images selected from the footage from which they choose the best ones. Single pictures was at the beginning, now is a continuous video. So, your plate works during the FLASH, they still have over 10-12 pictures to pick your license.
    take care

Someone at Red Flex had to review your video and determine that you did not stop. I would go to court and demand that that person be there to testify against you. I have nothing against cameras - Britain has them everywhere - but in my opinion they should only be used to prevent crimes or determine liability. Using them as TAX MACHINES by issuing traffic tickets is an injustice. Unless of course it frees up the police's time to do real crime work, but we know that doesn't occur either.

I'm sorry to say this, I really am because I hate those F*ing cameras, but I used to work as an engenier at a television station...8 year, until a computer replaced ifme. Anyways, it was a news station too...if you are in public view (either public proberty or private like at a mall, or even you own back yard) someone, anyone can take your pic, AS LONG as the person taking the pic or the camera is on public proberty (like the side walk)...obviously if someone is on private property like your neighbors back yard, that would be leagal too, as long as they have the permision from the property owner.

The reason...your aready in public view.

Good luck...fight it, and I hope you win. Make them prove you did not stop, and that their camera is not set too sensitive!

    Yeah tickets suck....

.....but accidents and insurance claims, and law suits really really suck.

I do all I can to avoid the above by just slowing down and driving safely.

    Arrive Alive.;) I'm just sayin....

In most every state, any person can take a picture of anyone else from public property, with very few exceptions (unless implicitly stated in a local statute). In general, you have no reasonable expectation of privacy while driving on a public road.

Red Light cameras are revenue generating scams.

A municipality will sign a contract with a PRIVATE company to install the cams, then agree to provide, under contract X amount of tickets at Y intersection. The company gets a cut of EVERY SINGLE TICKET. For profit private contractors even operate mobile photo enforcement units.

Towns with radar/light cams are notorious for, altering the length of amber lights at intersections to catch more people as well as altering the sensitivity and timing to get people who are are actually in the clear, if even by only a second or less.

There is a group in Arizona who is leading the fight against photo radar, and scameras. They have some awesome youtube videos.

Just search on youtube for RP4409.

I heard there is a clear spray that makes the LP pics come out overexposed.

In public, your consent is not needed for your photo to be taken. Especially if you are committing a crime or traffic violation.

If that has changed, I must have missed the news.

And if having everyones consent were the case we would could not televise baseball fans at games, football fans, race car fans. We also would not have security cameras in banks, and parking lots for everyones saftey.

    Think about it......

According to MythBusters they are all crap and don't do anything they claim to do. They even had one on a dragster doing like 300MPH and the camera still caught the picture. It's your money though waste it any way you want.

I did that once and got a ticket. Probably shouldn't have done it within a block of the Police Dept but you're only young once. [IMG]
