Would be brilliant if it actually goes through but it'll probably get lobbied to death sadly.

But it's not tracking anything? It only knows an object is present, there's no camera on it reading your plate or anything?

Also Josh, yes that was Sedonafest ;)

Do you guys know if it is possible to turn my Android phone into a mobile hotspot without paying Tmobile?

Same question for an Iphone 5.

Le GF needs something for when she is stuck in the hospital at nights and needs to study.

    EDIT:

Any CHEAP alternative suggestions would be appreciated.

The only way I know of... and haven't actually done myself, is you have to root (at least for android). Then you can setup hotspot on it. It's free, as long as you don't get caught ;)

Yes you'll need to root the phone. Once rooted you can download the hotspot app directly from google. If you need help let me know.

Thanks guys. We are going to look at legit options this weekend. Then we will decide what route we will take.

I will hit you guys up again if I decide to root my phone for her.

Got my Note 2 running on KitKat 4.4, which Samsung won't release form the Note 2. I don't know why, its amazing and so freaking fast vs 4.3 (Jellybean). Also I got a nice debloated version.

    This is amazing to me:
Stock MK3 rom (Jellybean release)- 898mb
    Ported MK3 rom (Jellybean port/debloat)- 268mb
Stock MK4 rom (KitKat release)- 855mb
Ported MK4 rom (KitKat Ported)- 183mb

Shows you how much freaking bloat is added into these roms from Samsung/Cell Providers. Over 1/2gig of stripped out useless bullshit apps and services.

Depends on what ROM I an wanting to run. Most devs have their own page to her the ROM. Right now running liquid smooth and It's great.

I've loaded Plazma Kernel to it and have started to set my overclock/underclock settings on it.

I didn't take any before shots. Been kinda messing with it but not liking this kernel too much. Stweaks works great, but as soon as I start messing with voltages in anyway I get FC's and I can't save the settings. installing Devil Kernel now.

    Ok. Final Results

    Device: Galaxy Note II (SPH-l900)[sprint]
Rom: Android 4.4.2 Dirty Unicorns 6
    Kernel: Plazma v2.05+
    Stock Freq. 1.6ghz
    OC: 2.16ghz
    Governor: zzmoove
Scheduler: deadline/cfq (both seem to give same scores)
    minor voltage tweaking
battery at 63% when starting testing (should have tested at 100% of on charger)

Initial stock tests, 3 runs each at 1.6ghz/stock voltage/no tweaks at all.
    Quadrant score: 2350

    OC tests: 3 runs, 2.16ghz
    Quadrant score: 3890

So far so good. I keep it sitting at 1.9ghz so I don't rape the battery. 20+ hours is very easy to get with normal use. 4-6 hours at 2.16ghz with heavy use.
