I would like to install a 5706V remotestart security in my 14 double cab sport. i have a ADS-TB also. and i think I'm ready to get started. i have printed a few diagrams but I'm just confused on what wires off the alarm i will actually use.

I've got the print outs of the colors and i have the DEI alarm diagrams.. but what wires do i actually use?

also, reading the ADS manual.. one of the wires off the bypass says it needs to go to a "ground when running" wire.. does this mean i most likey will have to make that happen with a relay.. or is the bypass more simple than that?

Good luck! I am a certified installer and I can tell you that putting a remote start in these trucks is NOT something i would recommend you attempt without some pretty decent knowledge and experience in 12v electrical and DEI alarms. To answer your question, I have not heard of "ground when running" but there is is a wire that is on the alarm itself that is a "ground when armed" and it is the orange wire. This will be used for the bypass module as you mentioned.

So how did you get "ground when running"? That's question#1.

If your looking for a ground when "running" then this is not how it would work. A dis/armed status would not effect the ground while "running". That would be the ground when "armed" which is what i referred to in my first post which is the orange wire. OP, you sure it's not referring to the status wire which is blue/white. Post links or picks of the diagrams you have and that will help clear this up

Oh and using any kind of test light is a bad idea in any application. It is the most unsafe and inaccurate form of testing for power and ground. Should be using a digital mullet multi meter or power probe

I guess what's confusing me is that the module would not ask to be connected to a wire that doesn't already exist or requires a relay to create. DEI is much more straight forward than that. I think we need to see the documents to know what it's actually asking for

Good luck. I installed an Excalibur 2050 in my 2012. It was a nightmare! Not because it was particularly difficult to install, but because the manufacturer was intentionally vague and secretive about providing a diagram. Since I was a DIY installer, they offered almost no help at all citing 'liability' issues. What a farce! If I were a licensed installer, they would give me specific vehicle diagrams that would tell me exactly what wires go where. It would seem to me that offering specific wiring diagrams to DIY installers would lower their liability risk, not increase them. But no, according to them, offering no help at all is actually better for them! I finally figured it out and all is well, but I didn't get much help from the manufacturer!...

This is what I did when I installed my 5704 and ADS-TB in my 2005. The H2/9 Status Output (dark blue) from the 5704 is connected to the ADS-TB's Ground When Running wire.

THIS ^ A test light is bad news for this scenario.

OP, I did a write-up on it my install here. Some of the stuff will be different since you have a 2014 and a slightly different remote start, but there still might be some good info for you.

i will take a pic of mine and show what wires you will use off of the dball and viper.... have you programmed the dball yet... once everything is installed you will have to set the start from manual to auto because the remote start is set primary for manual transmissions so in order to use it you will need to switch it over ill send the pics and links to all wires tomorrow

i would appreciate the info you can provide. i will use the idatalink, which i can program once the vehicle is running.. so i don't have to worry about flashing any software. I'm just confused on what wires off the 5706v i will actually be using.

also, did you use any relays? i don't mind using them if they are necessary for the job, but it would be a lot easier without.. also, diodes on the doors?

Not something I would attempt without a great amount of experience. It may be best to pay someone to do it. It may be worth your time, effort, and wallet to pay somebody up front. Rather than to deal with any headaches or issues down the road. Not to mention possible additional costs.

From memory, the flex relay will power on depending on which way you program it. For example, if you need a 3rd ignition powered on startup or a 2nd accessory powered, you can program it appropriately to power at the right time. Hope that clears things up!
